    • An optical pickup device for irradiating a laser beam onto an optical recording medium and receiving a return light from the optical recording medium, comprising a semiconductor laser element which is formed on a semiconductor substrate and has first and second light emitting faces, a first reflection portion provided so as to confront the first light emitting face of the semiconductor laser element, a second reflection portion provided so as to provide confront the second light emitting face of the semiconductor laser element, a first photodetector for receiving a return reflection light of the laser beam which is reflected from the first reflection portion and focused on the recording medium, and a second photodetector for receiving a return reflection light of the laser beam which is reflected from the second reflection portion and focused on the recording medium. A recording signal on the recording medium and a focus error signal are detected by the first and second photodetectors.

    • Disclosed is a travel path displaying apparatus for indicating the current position of an automobile running on a selected road in a road map appearing on an associated screen. A cumulation of errors in estimating sequential current positions will cause an incorrect indication of the automobile's position on the screen and the automobile will depart from all the roads appearing on the screen. In order to find the correct road on which the automobile is traveling it is necessary to carry out pattern matching between the travel trace and each of a number of selected roads, thereby determining which road is closest to the travel trace in shape. The apparatus permits selection of the least possible number of roads for pattern matching, thus permitting quick determination as to the road on which the automobile is traveling and as to the direction in which it is traveling.

    • An independent wheel suspension system includes a pair of upper lateral link members and a pair of lateral link members for supporting a wheel carrier to the vehicle body. By providing a difference in elevation between the outer ends of the link members for the upper and/or the lower pair of lateral link members, an anti-dive property can be obtained. Further, by providing an appropriate inclination to the rear lower lateral link member, the tendency to form a toggle between the knuckle arm of the wheel carrier and the tie rod is reduced. Also, by making the front lateral link member more upwardly inclined than the rear lateral link member for each of the pairs, an anti-dive effect can be produced without changing the caster angle and other property of the suspension system during cornering maneuvers.

    • A trailing link type beam suspension comprising a pair of left and right trailing arms, an axle beam fixed to one of the trailing arms and pivotably connected to the other and a pair of dampers provided between the axle beam and chassis.
