The load plate and the lever rotate with respect to the reinforcement plate between an open position and a closed position; and the lever pushes the load plate to move from a middle position to the closed position during the lever rotates from the opening position to the closed position such that a free end of the load plate engages with the reinforcement plate.

    • An electrical connector (1) includes a housing (6), and terminals (2) received in passageways (60) of the housing. Each passageway includes a retention space (602) that is bounded by a forward wall (6022), two side walls (6021) and two rearward walls. Each terminal includes a vertical retention portion (24) having a first main face (242), a second main face (244) and a pair of side faces (243). A retention protrusion (26) extends outwardly from each of opposite sides of the retention portion, and then bends perpendicularly. In one embodiment, the protrusions protrude beyond both the side faces and the second main face. Each protrusion includes a first interference portion (260) interferentially engaging with the respective side walls of a corresponding passageway, and a second interference portion (262) interferentially engaging with the forward wall. Each protrusion has a reinforced structure, and the terminal is securely and reliably retained in the passageway.

The clamp has two hinge portions (18) rotatably attached to two rear posts. A hook (22) depends from a front of the clamp. Two pivot rods (32) extend outwardly from opposite ends of the crank holder, and are rotatably received in two corresponding slots (53) defined in two front posts. The crank has an offset pressing portion (42) and an operation rod (46). The pressing portion is disposed between supporting arms (39) of the crank holder. When the operation rod is rotated toward the heat sink and locked in position, the pressing portion presses the hook.

    • A connector includes a housing having top and bottom faces. The housing defines an array of cells and each cell has an opening in the top face and a closed bottom with a slit defined in the bottom and exposed to the bottom face of the housing. A bump is formed on the bottom face next to each slit. A conductive terminal made by a first forming operation carried out on a metal plate is received in each cell through the top opening. The terminal has a base section positioned in the cell and a solder pad connected to the base section by a neck portion. The base section, the solder pad and the neck portion are substantially coplanar. The solder pad and the neck portion extend through the slit and beyond the bottom face of the housing. A second forming operation is carried out on the neck portions of all the terminals to bend all the neck portions about the bumps whereby the solder pads are substantially parallel to the bottom face. The neck portions are subject to an over-forming operation so as to have a perfect alignment of the solder pads. The bump provides a spring back clearance for the over-forming operation.

    • A power connector directly connects a central processing unit module to a power supply. The power connector includes a single insulation member retaining two rows of contacts that oppose each other defining a nip area therebetween to receive and retain a circuit board of the central processing unit module. The contacts of the upper one of the two rows are power contacts that transmit power to a central processing unit while the contacts of the lower one of the two rows are grounding contacts. An additional row of contacts is retained in the insulation member and located above the row of the power contacts. The contacts of the additional row extend over the power contacts and are configured to engage the circuit board. Some of the contacts of the additional row are cache power contacts that supply power to a cache memory of the central processing unit module, while the others of the contacts are signal contacts for transmitting I/O signals. The cache power contacts are arranged more close to each other than the signal contacts do. Thus contacts of different pitches and different purposes are integrated and retained in a single insulation member.
