摘要： Soft leathers with a pleasant hand are obtained on fatliquoring and filling leather and fur skins with water-soluble or water-dispersible graft polymers of vegetable and animal oils, obtainable by radically initiated polymerizationA) of a monomer or monomer mixture comprising(a) from 20 to 100% by weight of monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids and/or monoethylenically unsaturated sulfonic acids and/or monoethylenically unsaturated phosphonic acids or their alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium salts,(b) from 0 to 80% by weight of other monoethylenically unsaturated monomers which are copolymerizable with the monomers (a), and(c) from 0 to 5% by weight of at least doubly ethylenically unconjugatedly unsaturated monomers in the presence ofB) vegetable and/or animal oils in a weight ratio of A:B of (80-1):(20-99).

C. to give copolymers having molecular weights of from 500 to 20,000 g/mol, subsequent solvolysis of the anhydride groups of the copolymers and partial or complete neutralization of the carboxyl groups formed during the solvolysis, in an aqueous medium by means of a base, and which are present in the form of aqueous dispersions or solutions, are used as agents for imparting water repellency to leathers and skins.

摘要： Organic polyacids are prepared from monomeric monofunctional acids, such as acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and monomers without an acid group, with or without dicarboxylic acids or their anhydrides, by continuous free radical mass copolymerization under superatmospheric pressure at from 200.degree. to 400.degree. C., followed, if desired, by neutralization of the polyacids obtained. The polyacids obtained by the novel process are useful as phosphate substitutes and scale inhibitors in detergents and cleansers.

C. in the presence of from 1 to 20% by weight, based on maleic anhydride, of a peroxyester, and hydrolysis of the polymer to give slightly crosslinked polymaleic acid having a Fikentscher K value of from 8 to 20 (measured at 20.degree. C. in 5% strength aqueous solution at pH 7 as the Na salt), a process for the preparation of slightly crosslinked polymaleic acid, and its use as a water treatment agent for reducing boiler scale and hard water deposits in water-conveying systems.

摘要： Carboxyl-containing polymers which are water-soluble at least in the neutralized form are prepared by a method in which a monoethylenically unsaturated C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 -carboxylic acid is polymerized in the presence or absence of a carboxyl-free copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer in aqueous solution in the presence of polymerization initiator and of from 0.01 to 5% by weight, based on the monomers, of an inorganic acid of phosphorus in which the phosphorus has an oxidation state of from 1 to 4, its water-soluble salts, a water-soluble --PO(OH).sub.2 -containing compound and/or its water-soluble salts and, if required, a polymerization regulator. Virtually colorless or only slightly colored polymer solutions are obtained.

摘要： Maleic anhydride copolymer powders are prepared by a process wherein a solution or dispersion of maleic anhydride in an alkyl vinyl ether and/or an alkene, containing from 3 to 25 moles of the alkyl vinyl ether and/or alkene per mole of maleic anhydride, is brought into contact with a powder bed under polymerization conditions, and is polymerized in the bed while the reaction mass is circulated and the powder state is maintained, and the heat generated during polymerization is removed by evaporating excess monomer which boils lower than maleic anhydride.
