    • In an image forming device including a liquid discharge head in which nozzles for discharging liquid drops are arranged side by side, a drive waveform generating unit generates, within a single drive cycle, a first drive waveform containing a drive signal to discharge an amount of liquid drop used for image formation, and a second drive waveform containing a drive signal to discharge an amount of liquid drop smaller than a minimum discharge drop amount used for image formation. A head control unit causes the liquid discharge head to discharge the amount of liquid drop used for image formation in accordance with the first drive waveform for a region where an image is formed, and to discharge the amount of liquid drop smaller than the minimum discharge drop amount in accordance with the second drive waveform for a region where any image is not formed.

    • An air passage switching device includes a slide door slidable along first and second opening portions partitioned by a partition portion, a guide member for guiding the slide door, and a link mechanism for slidably moving the slide door along the guide member. The link mechanism includes a rotation shaft rotatably supported in a case, a link portion provided at one end portion of the slide door, and a link lever connected to the rotation shaft and the link portion. The link portion is rotatable around the rotation shaft only within a range of the second opening portion in a sliding direction, among the first and second opening portions. Furthermore, the slide door can be provided with a first seal portion for sealing a clearance with outer peripheral portions of the first and second opening portions, and a second seal portion for sealing a clearance with the partition portion.

    • A reinforcing structure for automotive vehicles is disclosed, in which cross car beams (1) constituting a reinforcing structure for the instrument panel or the like include an upper cross car beam (1A) of a hollow bar such as a small-diameter pipe straight or having a plurality of curves and suspended between left and right front pillars, and at least a lower cross car beam (1B) of a hollow bar such as an L-shaped small-diameter pipe. The part of the lower cross car beam nearer to the driver's seat is in contact and welded with the upper cross car beam, and the part of the lower cross car beam not in contact with the upper cross car beam functions as a brace (5). A steering shaft (3) is mounted on the cross car beams in the direction crossing the cross car beams. A lower cross car beam (1C) of a similar shape to the lower car beam nearer to the driver's seat can also be arranged nearer to the front passenger seat.
