    • A recording method of forming a picture image directly on a recording sheet by a magnetic brushing process using a dry developing powder on the basis of an input picture signal not by forming an optical image directly on the recording sheet surface. The recording method comprising steps of disposing a transparent guide member against a nonmagnetic and conductive sleeve of a cylindrical shape which includes a permanent magnet member having a plurality of magnetic poles on its surface; so as to form a recording region applying a magnetic dry developing powder onto the sleeve, rotating the permanent magnet relative to the sleeve to form a magnetic brush at least in the recording region; passing a transparent recording sheet along the surface of the guide member so that the magnetic brush is brought near to or into contact with the recording sheet; and emitting a light signal based on a picture information signal to the guide member from its rear side to form a visible powder image on the surface of the recording sheet.

    • A reversal developing process carried out preferably with an inductively chargeable magnetic powdery developer. An electrostatic latent image having first charged areas and second lesser charged areas formed on a photoreceptor or a photoconductor is developed negatively by forming a toner brush of single component, i.e., inductively chargeable, magnetic powdery developer on a shell incorporating a permanent magnet to adhere the developer on the first charged areas, charging uniformly the developed photoreceptor with the same polarity as the first charged area and further rubbing the surface of the photoreceptor with a second toner brush to remove the previously adhered developer from the surface and to adhere powdery developer onto the second lesser charged areas. The apparatus includes two applicators for powdery developer positioned along the path of movement of the latent image with a D.C. charger stationed between the applicators. In the preferred embodiment, the two applicators and charger are incorporated in a single device.

    • A development process for an electrophotographic duplicator using magnetic toner and a photosensitive material selected from the group consisting of selenium, organic semiconductor, and cadmium sulfide. The magnetic toner is transferred in a maximum thickness of 1.5 mm onto a cylindrical non-magnetic sleeve enclosing a magnetic roll. The magnetic force of the roll on the sleeve is in the range of from 300 to 1000 gauss and the toner comprises magnetite in the range of 40 to 70 percent by volume and has a volume specific resistivity higher than 10.sup.7 ohm-cm and a granulometric measure of less than 30 .mu.m. A surface potential is applied in the range of from 300 to 1200 volts on the photosensitive material formed on the surface of a rotatable drum-shaped member. The magnetic toner is continuously conveyed to a development section of the photosensitive material during rotation of the member for brushing the toner in contact with the photosensitive material. The distance between the sleeve and photosensitive material is set as equal to or smaller than the maximum thickness of the transferred toner. Subsequently the toner on the photosensitive material is electrostatically transferred to a recording sheet.
