    • A technique is disclosed for generating formatted information for display on a computer system. The computer system may be configured to include at least one interface for communicating with a server computer system. A request is sent from the computer system to the server system. According to one embodiment, the request may correspond to an HTTP request for information relating to a specific HTML page or web page. A response is then received from the server system. According to one embodiment, the response includes response information comprising embedded instructions and data. The embedded instructions may include instructions for using the data to generate formatted markup information for display on the computer system. The embedded instructions are then executed on the data to thereby generate formatted markup information for display on the computer system. According to a specific embodiment, the formatted markup information corresponds to HTML data to be rendered for display on the computer system.

    • A system that initiates streaming of a remotely stored application in response to a data file selection. In one example, in response to a user selection of a data file, a streaming application module determines if a remotely stored published application is available that is capable of opening the data file. If the published application is available, the streaming application module requests that a portion of the published application be streamed to the user system. In addition, the streaming application module may determine if the user is subscribed to the published application. In another example, the streaming application module is invoked if there is not a locally stored application associated with the file type of the selected data file.

    • A charging apparatus for a portable rechargeable electronic device is described. The charging apparatus contains a substantially flat conductive surface for receiving the electronic device placed thereon. Small conducting nodules of the device mate with the conductive surface to charge a rechargeable battery of the device. Charging may commence upon placement of the device. The surface may contain a positive and a negative electrode. The surface may have lips placed around the perimeter to form a tray like structure. Synchronization with a host system and the device may occur wirelessly.

    • A RAM module that can increase the number of times it may be accessed within a single clock cycle. By knowing the processor's clock speed and determining a critical time, a signal optimizer may be constructed. The critical time is the longest interval of time required for a worst-case scenario memory access. A signal optimizer transforms the clock signal into a signal that has a higher frequency than the original clock signal and maintains both its high state and its low state for at least the critical time. By then allowing the RAM module to perform its access and pre-charge during the dips and posts of the optimized clock signal, the RAM module can perform multiple accesses and pre-charges during one clock cycle. The RAM module can be used for direct memory accesses such that the processor does not need to arbitrate access to the memory.
