摘要： A data transfer apparatus for use in transferring data frames between a data buffer and an input/out (I/O) device in a data processing system. A channel in the data processing system includes an inbound frame header buffer for storing a header from an inbound data frame from the I/O device, an outbound frame header buffer for building a header for an outbound data frame to be sent to the I/O device, a data buffer for storing data transmitted between the data processing system and the I/O device, and a data transfer control circuit for controlling the number of data bytes to be transferred between the data buffer and the I/O device. The channel also includes a microcode routine controlled microprocessor for analyzing frame headers in the inbound frame header buffer, for building frame headers in the outbound frame header buffer, for initiating the transmission of outbound frames, and for controlling the data transfer control circuit for transferring a desired number of data bytes.

摘要： The present invention provides for a method of transferring information in a network computing system environment. The network environment includes a main storage coupled to a channel subsystem with a plurality of channels in processing communication with a control unit capable of coupling to a plurality of input/output devices. First packets of data are concurrently sent to and from the main storage. The operation of certain channel functions are also transferred to the control unit so that each command does not require a command response or an end notification response. Finally by certain commands are combined with the associated data of one or more of the data packets. In one embodiment of the present invention, an optical fabric is also in processing communication with said channels and control unit.

摘要： The present invention provides for a method of transferring information in a network computing system environment. The network environment includes a main storage coupled to a channel subsystem with a plurality of channels which is in processing communication with a control unit capable of coupling to a plurality of input/output devices. At first the packets of data are sent concurrently to and from the main storage. Next execution of certain channel functions are transferred to the control unit so that certain commands can be combined with the data packets in one sequence. Finally only one start data command and only one end command notification needs to be sent before and after a plurality of data packets is transferred respectively. In one embodiment another method is employed in the same network computing system environment having the steps of: fetching said command from said main storage; fetching associated data from said main storage; and transferring said fetched command along with said fetched associated data to said control unit.

摘要： An encryption method encrypts a clear text twice using a first encryption engine to produce a first cipher text and a second encryption engine to produce a second cipher text. The method compares the first cipher text with the second cipher text, or compares a checksum of the first cipher text with a checksum of the second cipher text. 摘要： An outbound frame state machine (OFSM) which generates data frames for transmission over a data link. The OFSM is microcode controlled and includes an outbound frame header buffer for containing information to be included in the header of the frame, a data buffer for storing data characters to be included in the data frame, a data generator register for providing special sequences of data characters, if required, and an outbound frame trace buffer for storing a trace log of all frames transmitted in the normal mode and to be used if the OFSM is operating in the simulated I/O mode or the diagnostic mode. In the normal mode of operation, the OFSM builds a data frame using header information from the frame heater bufferm and may include data from the data buffer, all as specified by control bits stored in a control register. The control register may also include a bit for causing special sequences to be transmitted. In the simulation mode, frames are built by the OFSM and then wrapped back to the channel to be processed like frames from a control unit. In the diagnostic mode, the OFSM inserts various characters into the outbound data bit stream to create possible error situations on the data link.
