    • The invention is aimed to provide a core-sheath type composite filament, in which a functional component is hardly lost due to volatilization during the melt forming; bleeding of the internally added functional component is effectively inhibited; the internally added functional component does not adversely affect spinning properties, stretching properties, strength and dimensional stability; the use of the functional component can be greatly reduced, leading to a reduction of production cost; superior functionalities of deodorizing properties and antimicrobial properties can be exhibited to a maximum extent; even when contacting with water, the functionalities can be kept over a long time; and the composite filament is highly safe to a human body. The invention is also aimed to provide a process for the production of the core-sheath type composite filament as well as a heat fused article obtained from the composite filament. The core-sheath type composite filament of the invention is composed of a core component X and a sheath component Y, wherein the core component X is formed from a first polyolefin resin (H), and the sheath component Y is formed from a second polyolefin resin (L) compounded with at least one functional component (A) selected from the group consisting of a catechin, a saponin, a tea-leaf powder, a tea-leaf extract, and tannin (tannic acid), and a ceramics component (C).

    • In a quantum-well type semiconductor laser device comprising a multi-layered quantum-well layer (active layer) constituted by quantum-well layers and a corresponding number of barrier layers and a pair of optical confinement layers respectively arranged on and under the active layer, since the number of quantum-well layers is limited to one or two, the device has a reduced internal loss, a narrowed far-field angle and a bandgap energy of the quantum-well layers greater than that of the optical confinement layers by more than 160 meV so that it shows a lowered threshold current density.     • There is disclosed an improved release bearing assembly that is component of the pull-type clutch cover of a friction clutch mounted in an automobile. The release bearing assembly comprises a bearing body capable of moving axially within a given range, a retainer ring holding a diaphragm spring, a sleeve disposed between the bearing body and the ring, several resilient sheets extending from the flange of the sleeve axially of the sleeve, fingers formed at the front ends of the resilient sheets, and a release groove formed in the outer surface of the sleeve. The resilient sheets are circumferentially spaced from each other. The sleeve can slide on the bearing body between a first position and a second position. In the first position that is close to the retainer ring, the sleeve clamps the ring against the bearing body via the fingers. In the second position, the resilient sheets can play within a release groove formed in the bearing body, so that the ring disengages from the bearing body.
