摘要： A WDM transmission system is provided which can multiplex/demultiplex and transmit wavelength division multiplexing signals, where signal lights have a different signal bandwidth, in a status without much deterioration of transmission quality. In the WDM transmission system, an optical receiver includes a demultiplexing unit which demultiplexes the wavelength division multiplexing signals and outputs the demultiplexed signal lights from a plurality of output ports, wherein each output port has transmission characteristics to be set such that the bandwidth of the transmission band where the light transmits and the bandwidth of the non-transmission band where light does not transmit are different, and the transmission band substantially matches with the signal band of the signal lights that are output from the output port out of the received wavelength division multiplexing signals.

摘要： An interferometer for demodulating a differential M-phase shift keying signal includes a PLC type interferometer main body, a heating portion that heats the PLC type interferometer main body, and an intermediate member having a higher stiffness than that of the PLC type interferometer main body, for bonding the PLC type interferometer main body and the heating portion with each other while being sandwiched therebetween. A linear expansion coefficient difference between the PLC type interferometer main body and the intermediate member is equal to or smaller than 4.5×10−6/° C., and a thermal conductivity difference between the PLC type interferometer main body and the intermediate member is equal to or larger than 10 W/mK. A phase of an optical signal flowing through the interferometer is adjusted by using the heating portion and a second heating portion.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method for gain equalization, for example. First, an optical transmission line including an optical amplifier having a gain changing nonlinearly with wavelength is provided (step (a)). Secondly, gain equalization of the optical transmission line is performed so as to obtain a gain changing substantially linearly with wavelength (step (b)). Finally, gain equalization of the optical transmission line is performed so as to obtain a gain remaining substantially unchanged with wavelength (step (c)). According to this method, gain equalization of the optical transmission line is performed so as to obtain a gain changing substantially linearly with wavelength. Accordingly, variations in equalization error due to changes in system condition can be easily suppressed.
