摘要： A workpiece-supporting fence has a pair of movable fences movably attached to a fixed fence which is secured to a base of the device in which the fence is being used. The pair of movable fences are located on opposite sides of a working tool such as a saw blade. A fixed clamping arrangement is associated with each movable fence and provides a single point actuation member for each movable fence to clamp the movable fence to the fixed fence such that the movable fence is vertically aligned and flush with the fixed fence. In one embodiment, each movable fence is provided with a gap-filling flap which is pivotably secured to the movable fence to be movable between a lower and an upper position. In its lower position, the gap-filling flap minimizes the gap between the movable fence and the working tool. In its upper position, the gap-filling flap provides additional support when working with taller or thicker workpieces. The workpiece-supporting fence further includes a fence position indicator which allows for the positioning of one or both of the movable fences for providing clearances for a specific miter and/or bevel cut. In addition, the workpiece-supporting fence incorporates a detent system for locating the fence at tone or more of the most popular miter and/or beveling settings.

摘要： An adjustable rip fence for a machine tool has a fence which is movable with respect to the cutting tool due to a rack and pinion. The rail assembly supporting the fence include a pair of stationary rails which are secure to the machine tool. A movable rail telescopically engages each stationary rail and the movement of each rail is accomplished by the rotation of a pair of pinion gears each of which engages a respective rack on the movable rails. The simultaneous rotation of the pinion gears is the result of both pinion gears being secured to a common pinion shaft which is rotatably secured to the machine tool. The telescoping nature of the rails allows for adjustment of the fence beyond the working surface of the machine tool.

摘要： A dust or chip collection and diversion system is provided for a device having a cutting tool for performing a working operation on a workpiece. The position and orientation of the dust-receiving or dust-collecting opening remains constant with respect to the cutting tool regardless of the position or configuration of the device, the device having a movable blade or other cutting tool, thus greatly enhancing the dust collection effectiveness in any of a number of operational configurations. Such position and orientation of the dust-receiving opening is also independent of the movement or position of any adjustable or movable guard or workpiece-supporting fence.

摘要： A simple, low cost, light weight biscuit jointer (21) comprises an elongated motor housing (23), a motor end cap assembly (25) fixed to one end of housing (23) and a base assembly (27) for engagement with a workpiece. To form a biscuit receiving slot in a workpiece, the motor housing (23) and end cap assembly (25) are pivoted relative to base assembly (27) for sweeping a an elongated, generally cylindrical bit (29) through an opening (31) in a base plate (33). The sweeping action is effected by an operator rotating a handle (35) fixed to end cap assembly (25) counterclockwise (FIG. 2) relative to base assembly (27). A handle (37) is used to stabilize base assembly (27) as house assembly (23) is pivoted to form the slot.

摘要： A radial arm saw includes a saw assembly pivotally mounted to a support unit which, in turn, is mounted to a wall or other support structure. The saw assembly includes a column that is connectable at one end to a saw table frame or the support unit so as to be affixed in upright operative position during operation and disposed during non-operation in a lateral, storage position. A radial arm and saw unit are supported from the other end of the column. Preferably, the column is pivotal between a lateral stored position and an upright operative position. Also, the saw assembly is pivotal relative to the support unit between a vertical stored position and a horizontal operative position. A leg locking sleeve may be released to deploy the saw assembly from its stored position into its operative position. The support column may be detachable to shift the radial arm saw between operative and stored positions. The frame is pivotal about a horizontal axis between operative and stored positions, and legs may be provided for added stability. The compact-storage radial arm saw is extremely stable, permits accurate cutting, and in its stored position provides a substantial savings in floor or bench space compared to conventional radial arm saws and yet can be quickly and readily deployed to its operative position.
