    • For certain embodiments, a preamble sequence associated with a particular number of transmit antennas may allow a receiving mobile station to determine the number of transmit antennas used for transmission. The preamble sequence may be selected from one of a set of Constant Amplitude and Zero Auto Correlation (CAZAC) sequences corresponding to all of the supported number of transmit antennas. As a result, a receiving station may be able to determine the sequence sent by correlation and, thereby determine the number of antennas used for transmission. Given the number of transmit antennas, the mobile station may then perform MIMO channel estimation during initial synchronization to recover the channel taps between each transmit and each receive antenna.

    • The subject matter disclosed herein relates to systems, methods, apparatuses, articles, etc. for mobile device locating in conjunction with localized environments. For certain example implementations, a method may comprise obtaining at a mobile device one or more signals comprising information indicative of a location thereof. The information may be transmitted to one or more servers. A location context identifier (LCI) may be received responsive to the transmitting, with the LCI corresponding to a localized environment at which the mobile device is located. The LCI may be transmitted to the one or more servers. Location-based data may be received responsive to the transmitting of the LCI, with the location-based data being associated with the LCI and pertaining to the localized environment. The location of the mobile device may be determined with respect to the localized environment based, at least in part, on the location-based data. Other example implementations are described herein.

    • Apparatus, systems and methods for estimating a position of a mobile terminal (MT) using joint probability distribution values are disclosed. In an example, the MT is capable of receiving signals from a plurality of access points. The MT receives a map of expected measurements for a parameter observable by the MT, from any of a plurality of hypothesis locations. The expected measurements are predictive of a value of the parameter observed by the MT, when the MT is proximal that hypothesis location. The MT captures measurements of the parameter for the plurality of access points, computes interim vectors for the hypothesis locations using the captured and expected measurements, computes joint probability distributions for the interim vectors using a covariance matrix, and filters the joint probability distributions to produce an estimated position of the MT.
