    • Systems and methods for processing data and communicating encrypted data are provided. A method of processing data and communicating encrypted data may include receiving input traffic data at a first interface of a channel service unit/data service unit (CSU/DSU). The method may also include determining management data associated with the input traffic data. The method may also include encrypting the management data at the CSU/DSU to produce encrypted management data. The method may further include sending the encrypted management data via a second interface of the CSU/DSU to a remote terminal of a local area network for viewing by user via a data router coupled to the CSU/DSU.

    • A plurality of wireless network access points (NAPs) each having a known location are provided. The wireless NAPs comprise shorter-range NAPs and longer-range NAPs. An associated precedence is assigned to each of the NAPs. A history database is to track a sequence of the NAPs accessed by a wireless device in a session. If a request for information from the wireless device is received by at least two of the NAPs, a processor determines which of the at least two NAPs has a greatest precedence and assigns same as a current NAP. The processor estimates a current location of the wireless device based on the known location of the current NAP and the known location of a previously-current NAP for the wireless device from the history database.

    • A telecommunications service controls and monitors telephone calls by storing at a service control point (SCP) restricted telephone numbers and priority telephone numbers. Upon receiving call data relating to a call between a subscriber telephone number and an outside telephone number, the SCP determines whether the outside telephone number matches the restricted or priority telephone numbers. When the outside telephone number matches a restricted telephone number, the call is terminated and the SCP stores the call data. When the outside telephone number does not match a restricted telephone number, or matches a priority telephone number, the call is connected. The SCP transmits stored call data to a service management system, which is accessible by the subscriber via the Internet or an interactive voice response, for generating reports. The service further includes time schedules for implementing call restrictions and personal identification number for bypassing call restrictions.

    • A method of designing an interface system that allows users to map the representation of their task directly to the interface. There are three major phases to the Customer-Centric Approach to Interface Design (C-CAID). End-users' tasks are categorized to determine the frequency of reasons or tasks of why users interact with a particular system. These reasons and their relative frequencies are used to design interface options that emphasize the user's task categories. Finally, the customer-centric interface designs are evaluated and compared with existing system interfaces using usability tests with actual users performing the tasks. The results from usability tests are used to pinpoint the task-option combinations that do not work well and which should be revised. Benefits of this customer-centric design are improved systems performance and increased user satisfaction.

    • In an embodiment, a communication node coupled to a first data network and a second data network is disclosed. The first data network is a wide area data network. The communication node includes a first data interface to the first data network, a second data interface to the second data network, a data processor responsive to the first data interface and to the second data interface, and an encryption module coupled to the data processor. The first data interface is a telephony type interface and the second data interface is a packet data interface. The data processor receives input traffic data carried over the first data interface and generates management performance data based on measurements with respect to the input traffic data. The encryption module receives the management performance data to produce encrypted management performance data to be communicated to the second data network via the second data interface.

    • A speaker identity claim (SIC) utterance is received and recognized. The SIC utterance is compared with a voice profile registered under the SIC, and a first verification decision is based thereon. A first dynamic phrase (FDP) is generated, and a user is prompted to speak same. An FDP utterance is received, and compared with the voice profile registered under the SIC to make a second verification decision. If the second verification decision indicates a high or low confidence level, the speaker identity claim is accepted or rejected, respectively. If the verification decision indicates a medium confidence level, a second dynamic phrase (SDP) is generated, and the user is prompted to speak same. An SDP utterance is received, and compared with the voice profile registered under the SIC to make a third verification decision. The speaker identity claim is accepted or rejected based on the third verification decision.

    • The present disclosure is generally directed to a system and method of measuring transport utilization of data that is to be multiplexed and transmitted over a digital transport facility. In a particular embodiment the method includes receiving at least one frame of a data channel at a time division multiplexing device, padding an unused portion of the frame with a number of stuff bits, determining a user traffic utilization measurement based on the number of stuff bits and based on the size of the data payload, and reporting the traffic utilization measurement. In this embodiment, the frame has a fixed data payload.
