The invention provides uniform well-bonded fasteners in a clip for use in a pneumatic or manual nailer, the clips being adhesive-free. In addition, this invention provides a method and apparatus for manufacturing such adhesive-free clips by press-forming the fasteners, placing them in proper orientation in a fixture on a rotatable turret rotating the turret to a welding location, spot welding or seam welding the fasteners, and rotating the turret to a clip unloading station. The clip product is also disclosed.

    • A coin feed for a souvenir coin elongation machine having a housing, a coin slot formed in the top of the housing, a pair of embossing rolls having a predetermined number (N) of embossing plates spaced equally around the outer circumferential surface of at least one embossing roll, and a gravity fed coin chute connecting the coin slot to the embossing rolls. The coin feed has a coin feed housing and a pair of stops. Each of the stops is movable between a first limit position traversing the coin chute and a second limit position retracted out of said coin chute. Each stop is mechanically linked to said embossing rolls by a cam and a gear train. The mechanical coin feed is located intermediate the coin chute and advancees only one coin at a time to the embossing rolls each time the embossing rolls are rotated 1/N revolutions.

    • A loader (10) for a forming machine (12) is disclosed as including a horizontally elongated transfer beam (46) supported by a linkage (52) and moved by a dual output cam unit (62). A vertical slide connector (210) connects the first follower (200) with an intermediate portion (50) of the transfer beam (46), and an actuating link (92) connects the second follower (224) with one end lever (78) of the linkage (52) to actuate the vertical transfer beam movement. A connecting link (88) of the linkage (52) connects the one end lever (78) with another end lever (80) to provide coordinated support of the opposite ends (48) of the transfer beam through roller slide connections (86) that allow the transfer beam (46) to move horizontally under the impetus of the first output (64) of the cam unit (62).

    • This invention is concerned with a work holder for a slotted tube to be deformed, preferably by moving the tube to a deforming work station and preventing the tube from rotating. The tube is fitted with an internal mandrel which is held in a fixed position by a vice. The mandrel has an upright blade that extends through the keyway of the slotted tube so that the tube can be slid along the mandrel relative to the deforming work station. In one method, continuous lengths of hollow pipes, tubes and the like can be threaded or otherwise externally deformed by supporting the workpiece internally with the mandrel. By changing the mandrel size, tubes of varying diameter can be accommodated. The deformed workpiece can be used in a variety of applications, one of which is a threaded hollow tube or stem member that has a cap welded to the rim of the tube to provide a pedestal cap of improved strength.
