    • The place shift-up mechanism of a digital clock comprises ratchet feed mechanism which permits manual setting of the clock even during the shift-up operation. The ratchet feed mechanism comprises an eccentric cam secured to a rotary shaft which also carries an eccentric operation pin. A ratchet wheel is rotatably supported by the shaft. A place shift-up lever is supported so as to be capable of rocking and sliding movement and has a forked leg plate with spaced legs receiving the eccentric cam between them. One leg of the forked leg plate has a feed pawl for engagement with the ratchet wheel and also a hook pawl engageable by the operation pin to move the place shift-up lever in one direction. The other leg of the forked leg plate has a return pawl which is engageable by the operation pin to move the plate shift-up lever in an opposite direction. The place shift-up lever is rocked by the eccentric cam and is moved by the operation pin first in one direction and then in the other to cause the feed pawl to engage the ratchet wheel to advance it one tooth for each revolution of the rotary shaft.

    • A register designed to count and display cost on a gasoline dispensing pump. The register has a 100 cent wheel which is driven by a stepping motor. As the 100 cent wheel rotates it biases a spring which, after the 100 cent wheel has completed a revolution, incrementally drives a dollar register wheel. Likewise, as the dollar wheel rotates it biases a spring which, after the dollar wheel has completed a revolution, incrementally drives a 10 dollar register wheel. The energy stored in the springs is also utilized to reset the register to zero, such that all of the power utilized to both drive and reset the register is supplied by the stepping motor.

    • A counter comprises a body housing a set of discs which are freely rotatable on a sleeve and which have numerals on their peripheries. A series of drive plates are keyed to the sleeve and interleaved with the discs. At one end of the set of discs a spring-loaded collar also keyed to the sleeve urges the drive plates and discs into frictional engagement. The sleeve is rotatable with a reset wheel whilst the collar is driven by a star counting wheel through an orbital drive arrangement. Each disc has a set of first abutments and a second abutment on its periphery. Spring blades engage the peripheries of the discs to engage the first abutments so as to oppose movement of the discs in a counting direction but to permit movement thereof in a reset direction. The spring blades associated with all the discs but one end disc are each provided with a resilient detent which is positioned in the path of movement of the second abutment on a disc adjacent that engaged by the associated first abutment.

    • In an indicating wheel driving mechanism of a timepiece, comprising an indicating wheel driving wheel and an indicating wheel driving wheel finger for driving said driving wheel, a slot is formed in the driving wheel to define a resilient portion and said indicating wheel driving wheel finger is formed integrally with said resilient portion at a location adjacent the free end thereof, and further means for restricting the degree of bending of said resilient portion is provided, whereby when the driving wheel rotates in the normal direction, the resilient portion is prevented from bending and an indicating wheel is driven by said finger, whereas when the driving wheel rotates in the reverse direction, the resilient portion is allowed to bend and the finger is relieved from restraint by the indicating wheel, providing for rotation of said driving wheel.
