    • In one aspect, the present invention relates to a plug of the type utilized for sealing a junction between a horizontal member and a vertical mullion of a curtain wall. The plug may include a plug body. The plug body may include a front body portion, a rear body portion, a left body portion, a right body portion, a top surface disposed between the left body portion, the right body portion, the front body portion, and the rear body portion. A rabbet is disposed across the front body portion. A spacer flange extends from the front body portion. A plurality of chamfers are disposed between the top surface and the left body portion, the right body portion, and the rear body portions. The plug is sized to occupy a gap formed in the junction between the horizontal member and the vertical mullion of the curtain wall. The rabbet and the plurality of chamfers form a plurality of large crevices between the plug, the horizontal member, and the vertical mullion. The large crevices allow penetration of a sealant therein.

    • The present invention relates to a variable fastener for fixing a curtain wall, enabling a vertical member of a curtain wall unit to be coupled to an end portion of a building slab (S), wherein the variable fastener comprises: a first bracket fixed to the end portion of the slab (S); and a second bracket, one side of which is coupled to the vertical member of the curtain wall unit, and the other side of which is coupled to the first bracket, so as to transfer the load of the curtain wall unit to the slab (S). The first bracket includes a planar base portion fixed to the end portion of the slab (S), and a support portion formed on the front end of the base portion so as to be higher than the upper surface of the base portion. The second bracket includes: a planar fixing portion fixed to the vertical member of the curtain wall unit; a height-adjusting bolt coupled and fixed perpendicularly at one side end of the fixing portion that is in the direction of the first bracket; a catching portion, one side of which is coupled so as to be horizontally pivotable and vertically slidable on the height-adjusting bolt, and the other side of which is mounted on an upper part of the support portion; and a height-adjusting nut fastened to the height-adjusting bolt, for adjusting the height of the catching portion.

    • The present invention provides methods and apparatuses for securing safing insulation in the gap formed between a spandrel and a slab. Additionally, the present invention eliminates the need for stiffening tees and/or stiffening brackets. In one exemplary embodiment, the present invention utilizes a first portion of safing secured to spandrel insulation positioned in an exterior wall structure and a second portion of safing insulation positioned adjacent to the first portion of safing insulation and between the spandrel insulation and the slab. By fixedly securing the first portion of safing insulation to the spandrel insulation, any deformation of the spandrel insulation caused by the forces exerted by the compressed second portion of safing insulation on spandrel insulation results in the first portion of safing insulation moving with the spandrel insulation.

    • A curtain wall mounting system for cantilevered support of at least one structure. The system includes an anchor plate adapted to integrally mount with a web section of a curtain wall. The curtain wall web section includes either a hollow tongue web extending outwardly of the curtain wall vertical mullion or an integrally formed flange region extending outwardly of the curtain wall vertical mullion. The anchor plate has at least one generally planer body portion with a first set of mating apertures adapted for alignment with the first set of fastening apertures of the web. The first set of apertures are oriented generally perpendicular to the tension forces transmitted by the anchor plate. The anchor plate also includes a second set of apertures adapted for securing of structures outwardly from the curtain wall.

The curtain wall, apparatus, and methods each utilize a structural member having a first section for supporting a panel member, and a second section for securing to a fixed structure.
