    • An apparatus for winding a cross-wound bobbin onto a bobbin tube is provided and comprises a bobbin creel including two bobbin creel arms for the mounting of two bobbin tube centering plates, a thread intake device effective in the region of an arm and with which is associated a thread severing device, a drive unit for a bobbin shaft/cross-wound bobbin, and a traversing thread guide adapted to be driven to move back and forth along the bobbin shaft/cross-wound bobbin. A given bobbin creel arm is provided with at least one intake or suction channel that is directed radially inwardly from the periphery of the centering plate and that opens into a hollow shaft guided outwardly through an associated arm. A suction head is adapted to be placed against the hollow shaft and is provided with a thread clamping mechanism and the thread severing device.

    • A fiber guide for spooling glass fiber from an automatic coil winding machine onto a spool. The guide has a body or pay guide assembly with a receiving aperture. Two similar sections are held together with a slight gap between them. Left and right parallel strands of music wire are tightly stretched through the gap across the receiving aperture of the arc and are anchored at each end. A spool with flanged edges receives the left and right parallel strands or guides and is maintained very close to the last layer or surface of fiber laid down. A guide pulley is carried by the guide for guiding glass fiber between the left and right parallel strands and onto the spool. The parallel strands are tensioned by anchoring each wire in a respective standoff. In one embodiment, each end of a music wire wraps around a standoff. The wires extend through the cross drilled holes permitting adjustment by turning the standoff. In an alternative embodiment, a tensioner is formed by a pivotal plate, relative to the guide. The pivotal plate tightens the left and right parallel strands by spring force generated by a spring connected between the pivot plate and the guide. In yet another embodiment, the left and right parallel strands are spaced apart by washers having a predetermined thickness and clamped.

    • An apparatus for winding material (such as cable, rope or paper or plastic webs) cable about a small reel from a large supply reel in which the cable is stored in bulk includes two arm units. One arm unit contains a first major arm section. A reel is carried between the distal ends thereof. Each arm unit also contains a minor arm extension. Each arm extension is connected to the major arm section by a vertical pin. There is a base. On that base, there are two upright brackets that are spaced apart. One bracket supports a first major arm section and the second bracket supports the second major arm section. There is a pivot on each bracket so that the major arm section can pivot up and down sort of like a modified teeter totter. Furthermore, the distal ends of the major arm sections can move either closer together or further apart. The inner ends of the major arm sections are connected to minor arm extensions by a vertical pin pivot. A cone is rotatably secured to the distal end of each major arm section. It is between these cones that the reel is supported. A leverage system controls the positions of the distal ends and cones.

    • In textile machines that produce cross-wound bobbins, especially open-end spinning machines, the yarn is laid onto the cross-wound bobbins with yarn guides. The yarn guides are commonly reciprocated with a driven traversing rod. All the yarn guides of the work stations located next to one another are driven simultaneously by this traversing rod. For the sake of uniform laying of the yarn and so that the traversing rod will not sag under tensile and compressive strain, careful rectilinear guidance of the traversing rod is required. Four successive support rollers each are angularly distributed about the circumference of the traversing rod in such a way that, viewed in the circumferential direction of the traversing rod, mutually identical wheel flanges are always adjacent to one another. Those support rollers which are adjacent with respect to the circumference of the traversing rod and whose wheel flanges are toward one another each have the same angular spacing relative to the other two support rollers.
