    • In an automotive anti-theft device, of the type mounted on a steering column, a latch is mounted in a cartridge. The latch is provided with a retaining tooth engaged by a cam, the cam having a tang ending with a projecting circular sector which for a determined rotational angle of the cam engages a groove formed in the latch. The cam is coaxial with the cylinder and the tang of the lock is torsionally engaged with respect to the cam. On a section of the cam there is mounted the rotor of an electrical switch which includes a stator and resilient radial contacts cooperating with sliding contacts carried by the rotor. A seat for the insertion of a key protrudes from the end of a rocker lever oscillating around a pivot which is radially mobile. The lever also includes a tooth engageable with a seat in the latch. A spring reacts elastically to the thrust imposed on the lever by an entering key and another spring reacts to the retracting movement of the latch. Still another spring reacts to angular movement when the key is moved, to return the key automatically.

    • A steering lock for motor vehicles with a prestressed locking bolt which engages into the steering spindle of the motor vehicle in its locking position and which is adapted to be retracted into its unlocked position in which it releases the steering spindle, by means of a locking drum of a cylinder lock combined with the steering lock when the electric system of the motor vehicle is turned on and the locking drum is rotated correspondingly into either the drive or assembly position; a solenoid controlled latching pin which is displaceably guided in the steering lock housing, is retracted by its spring force into its release position when the magnetic coil of the solenoid is de-energized with the vehicle at standstill, whereas it is displaced against the spring force through an opening in the steering lock housing into a latching position when the solenoid is energized with the vehicle in motion.

    • An auxiliary, momentary contact, electrical switch with normally open contacts is combined with a rotary ignition or motor starting switch of the type conventionally used in automobiles and other vehicles. The contacts of the auxiliary switch are closed by the ignition key either by inserting this key in the ignition switch or by turning the ignition switch from one of its on positions to its off position. The auxiliary switch forms part of an electrical circuit comprising an electrical storage battery, an interval timer, and a buzzer. The combination of the above elements works so that if the ignition key is left for more than a few seconds in the ignition switch while this ignition switch is in its off position the buzzer is turned on by the interval timer. This alarm reminds the operator of the vehicle to remove the key from the ignition switch. If the buzzer sounds and the key is not removed from the ignition switch within a predetermined time interval the interval timer shuts the buzzer off.

    • An antitheft lock device of an automotive vehicle ignition switch system comprises a member mounted for sliding movement radially of the rotor of a cylinder-type ignition lock, the member being moved radially outwardly by insertion of the key into the rotor until the radially outer end of the member is flush with the circumferential surface of the rotor. A cylindrical housing embraces the cylinder lock, and a switch control element is slidable in a radial slot in this housing and its radially inner end projects into the radial slot mounting the sliding member, when the key is withdrawn from the lock. In its radially inner position, the switch control element allows opening of an alarm switch. When the key is inserted into the lock, the sliding member is moved radially outwardly and the switch control element is displaced radially outwardly to close the alarm switch. The alarm switch is cooperable with another switch, such as the door-operated switch, so that, if the driver opens the door to leave the car without withdrawing the key from the ignition switch, an alarm is energized. This alarm may be a lamp, a buzzer, or a similar device.
