    • A timing circuit for energizing an output line a predetermined time after energization of a start of input line. The timer charges a capacitor through an FET operating in a self-biased mode so that current flow is constant and voltage rise is linear with time. The potential of the capacitor is applied to the gate of a second FET, the drain of which is connected to ground through a controlled voltage circuit. When the capacitor voltage reaches a sufficiently high level, the second FET conducts and energizes a transistor which supplies the output circuit. The timer also includes a reset switch which may be closed to discharge the capacitor.

    • Pulse signals having desired time intervals are generated, in part, by employing a resistor-capacitor series circuit. The potential developed across the capacitor drives a transistor emitter-follower amplifier. Variations in the signal developed at the emitter-follower output and, hence, in the pulse signals derived from that output are caused by variations in the transistor base-to-emitter potential because of changes in temperature. These variations are minimized by employing a diode to ''''clamp'''' the potential applied to the RC series circuit so that it varies substantially as the base-to-emitter potential.

    • A circuit is disclosed that is connected to the driving conductor of a relay to increase the relay''s release time. The circuit includes an RC timing circuit that is effective to maintain an amplifier circuit in a non-conductive state. The application of an operating potential to the driving conductor discharges the capacitor which switches the amplifier to the conductive state to maintain the relay operated for a period of time determined by the RC constants of the circuit. The circuit has a variable level limit for the capacitor charge to maintain the time interval constant in spite of voltage source variations.

    • The invention resides in a modification of the vehicular electrical system to include a protected time delay circuit for maintaining the lights or the like ON for a predetermined period after initiation, and a voltage sampling interrupter for interrupting the electrical system when the battery voltage decays to a predetermined level if the lights or other load have been inadvertently left ON or short circuited, including the time delay circuit. One embodiment interrupts the power lead and accessory lead to protect the battery, whereas the other embodiment provides a direct load path via the accessory contact of the ignition switch and an interruptible power bypass for a portion of the load path useful when the ignition is OFF. The circuit interrupts the power bypass lead to protect the battery.
