The display device (10) has a block (18) for holding the optical waveguides (46) firmly in position, with a front surface associated with the single-segment or multi-segment display (16) and a base surface associated with the light sources (14). The optical waveguides (46) are in the form of light fingers (38, 42) which extend through the block (18). The printed circuit board (12) can include any angle of between 0 and ≧90° with the multi-segment display (16).

One or more encapsulated electrical devices mounted directly on a substrate, including, for example, an LED or an array of LEDs, wherein the device is fully and individually encapsulated by an encapsulating material which is injection molded onto and mechanically bonded to the substrate.

摘要： An alpha-numeric display arrangement, designed to be vandal-proof, has an opaque mould plate mounted on the reverse of a metal front plate. Elongate apertures in the front plate each form one of a plurality of segments of the alpha-numeric display. Elongate apertures in the mould plate are each accurately aligned with a respective one of the apertures in the front plate. Molten transparent material is introduced to a required level in each of the contiguous aperture pairs. A space is left above the solidified material in which a light emitting diode mounted on a lighting board is received. Thus, each of the apertures is provided with a light emitting diode which is in optical communication with the transparent material provided within each of the apertures.

The opposite end of the tunnels connect with the front face of the display panel. The front openings are fitted with lenses or overlays in the shape of the necessary information segments. Thus, the combination door and display panel has no electrical components or connections thereon which would be subject to undue mechanical stress which might cause failure of the display.

摘要： A light emitting diode display which may be in the form of an array, dot matrix or number-shaped segments is obtained as follows. First, many lenses are formed by ejection at one time. This keeps the lenses at a definite interval from each other. Then continuous punching and cutting, as well as pressing and encasing, are used, to align the lenses and encase the same into prearranged holes on the display. A reflector is also encased to hold and clamp all the lenses between the display and the reflector. Finally, a circuit board welded with light emitting chips is encased and firmly fixed together with the display.

Internal illumination means can be provided in the inside of the indicator box, that which could not be obtained heretofore with the electromechanical digital display appliances.

摘要： A digital device for displaying any desired numeric figure in any desired color, comprising in combination an arrangement of seven segments in the conventional pattern of digital display devices, sources of light of the colors green, blue and red, and means for illuminating any desired combination of the seven segments with any of the colors or combination of colors. A preferred embodiment comprises in combination seven groups of wires, each of these arranged in the conventional manner of digital display tubes, each group comprising three parallel wires at a small distance from each other, a color filter of three colors being provided so that in front of each of the three wires there is located a transparent strip of a different color, a frosted screen being provided in front of the color filter and a mask defining narrow transparent strips coinciding with the arrangement of the wires on or in vicinity of the color filter, leads being provided for actuating any desired combination of the seven wires and for actuating any of the three parallel wires of any combination thereof. A further embodiment comprises a digital display system wherein there are provided seven illumination elements, defining the seven segments-display, each of these comprising a housing in which there are provided three colored light bulbs of red, blue and green color respectively, at least one frosted screen being provided in front of these, means being provided for energinzing any combination of the seven segments and any of the light bulbs, or combination of these. Yet a further embodiment comprises a display system wherein the seven segments of the digital display are light valves, three light bulbs of the colors red, blue and green being provided behind the light valves, means being provided for actuating any desired combination of the light valves of the seven segment valve screen simultaneously with the actuation of one or more of the colored light bulbs.
