摘要： A consumer system receives capabilities metadata from a producer system that includes resource class metrics for a resource class included in the producer system. Next, the consumer system creates a rule that corresponds to one of the consumer system's managed entities. The rule includes one or more prescriptions that reference the resource class metrics and specify a periodicity, which informs the producer system as to a time interval for which to send prescription results that includes metric information pertaining to the resource class metrics. The consumer system sends the rule to the producer system and, in turn, the consumer system receives the prescription results from the producer system at the specified periodicity and applies the metric information to the managed entity.

The subscription request may be for a wide variety of information from the remote device. For example, the subscription request might be for messages to be forwarded from the device as they are received. Also, the subscriptions could be for messages to be generated when a property value of the remote device has a predetermined characteristic. Such property values might include, for example, stock prices, inventory levels, online status, error codes, heart rates, and the like. The subscription request itself is a data structure representing a subscribe method identification, an address of the device containing the information, and an address of the device to which the information is to be forwarded. Optionally, the subscription request may also define the conditions under which a message is to be forwarded, or under which a property notification is to be sent.

A computer system includes a server device for managing a plurality of virtual volumes, a storage apparatus having a storage unit equipped with a plurality of storage devices, and a controller for controlling data input to, or output from, the storage unit, a management server device which is an access target of a user terminal, and an event management device for managing an event(s) generated by the server device or the storage apparatus, wherein when the event management device receives the event, it judges the content of the event and identifies a virtual volume to be affected by the event; and if a service level that should be satisfied by the identified virtual volume is defined for the identified virtual volume, the event management device identifies, based on the content of the received event, whether an incident in violation of the service level has occurred or not, and then notifies the management server device of the identified content as an event based on an event filter.
