    • An information collection apparatus which collects, from a plurality of devices each having a plurality of states including a power-supply state indicating ON or OFF of a power-supply, state information indicating a state of each device, the apparatus (a) stores, in a first memory, the power-supply state of each device, (b) receives state information transmitted from each device whose state is changed, (c) rewrites, when a power-supply state information indicating the power-supply state is received, the power-supply state stored in the first memory in accordance with the obtained power-supply state information, (d) collects periodically the state information from each device whose power-supply state stored in the first memory is ON by issuing, at regular intervals, a first request for the state information to the device, and (e) transmits the state information collected periodically to an external apparatus.

    • A computer program product is for use with a computer that includes a communication interface for sending and receiving information over a communication network and that is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that monitors and supplies information regarding power status associated with the UPS. The computer program product resides on a computer-readable medium and includes computer-executable instructions for causing the computer to process data received from the UPS to which the computer is coupled to produce indicia of changes in power status associated with the UPS, provide the indicia of changes in power status associated with the UPS to the communication interface destined for a remote device, and provide geographic information associated with the indicia of changes in power status that indicates a geographic location associated with the UPS.

    • If a failure occurs in physical resources constituting a virtual volume, a management server device is notified of information required by a user. A computer system includes a server device for managing a plurality of virtual volumes, a storage apparatus having a storage unit equipped with a plurality of storage devices, and a controller for controlling data input to, or output from, the storage unit, a management server device which is an access target of a user terminal, and an event management device for managing an event(s) generated by the server device or the storage apparatus, wherein when the event management device receives the event, it judges the content of the event and identifies a virtual volume to be affected by the event; and if a service level that should be satisfied by the identified virtual volume is defined for the identified virtual volume, the event management device identifies, based on the content of the received event, whether an incident in violation of the service level has occurred or not, and then notifies the management server device of the identified content as an event based on an event filter.
