    • A method is provided for balancing clutch wear in a dual clutch transmission, the transmission comprising a first transmission mechanism arranged to transmit mechanical driving force from an output shaft of the internal combustion engine to a first input shaft and to put any one of a first set of gears in an engaged state to connect the first input shaft to the ground engaging members; a second transmission mechanism arranged to transmit mechanical driving force from the output shaft of the internal combustion engine to a second input shaft and to put any one of a second set of gears in an engaged state to connect the second input shaft to the ground engaging members; a controllable first clutch unit arranged to bring the output shaft of the internal combustion engine and the first input shaft into engagement with each other; a controllable second clutch unit arranged to bring the output shaft of the internal combustion engine and the second input shaft into engagement with each other, and an electronic control unit arranged to control gear selection and clutch unit actuation. The method involves performing the steps of determining which clutch unit is subjected to the most accumulated wear and selecting a gear actuated by the other clutch unit during launch of the vehicle.

    • A vehicle transmission includes a first transmission mechanism arranged to transmit mechanical driving power from an output shaft of the prime mover to a first input shaft and to put any one of a first set of gears in an engaged state to drivingly connect the first input shaft to the driving wheels; and a second transmission mechanism arranged to transmit mechanical driving power from the output shaft of the prime mover to a second input shaft and to put any one of a second set of gears in an engaged state to drivingly connect the second input shaft to the driving wheels. Controllable first and second clutch units are arranged to bring the output shaft of the prime mover and the first and the input shaft, respectively, into engagement with each other. A lubrication pump is drivingly connected to the first input shaft to lubricate the transmission and an electronic control unit is arranged to determine a lubricated state of the transmission and the operational state of the lubrication pump. When the first clutch unit is engaged to connect the output shaft of the prime mover to the first input shaft, the lubrication pump is driven by the first input shaft. When the second clutch unit is engaged to connect the output shaft of the prime mover to the second input shaft, the lubrication pump is arranged to be driven by the first input shaft by at least partly engaging the first clutch unit.

    • A system includes a fluid pump, a hydraulic accumulator, and a controller. The controller calculates a reserve volume of the accumulator as a function of a component volume, leakage in the system, and a displacement of the pump, and executes a control action using the calculated reserve volume. The system may be a vehicle having input clutches and a dual clutch transmission (DCT) having gear forks. In such an embodiment, the accumulator and pump supply fluid pressure to the input clutches and gear forks in response to control signals from the controller. The controller executes a method that includes calculating the reserve volume of the accumulator as a function of a component volume, a volume of leakage in the system, and a displacement of the fluid pump. The method also includes executing a shift of the DCT using the calculated reserve volume.
