    • A linear module having a housing with a holder being secured against rotation and having an element for axial adjustment relative to the housing. The holder is surrounded by a sleeve proximate the housing, with the sleeve being provided with an external thread and an internal thread with the same direction of rotation, but with a differing lead. A guiding tube, being a first tube, is shaped as a rectangular tube and is located within the housing. A second tube is located within the guiding tube and is also constructed as a rectangular tube, which is capable of coaxial movement within the guiding tube. A linear motor connected to the second tube with the linear motor exerting a force on the second tube which is coaxial to a common axis of the guiding tube and the second tube. The linear motor is rigidly connected at one end to the holder. Guiding rail include a bearing for guiding coaxial movement of the second tube within the first tube with the guiding rails allowing for adjusting the bearing spatially. A position measuring device is located in at least one of the guiding tube or the second tube for determining a relative coaxial position of the guiding tube as compared with the second tube and a control unit in communication with the position measuring device for indicating the relative coaxial position of the guiding tube relative the second tube.

    • A multi-stroke air cylinder providing a precisely directed and controlled stroke in the face of lateral, torsional and tilting loads on a tooling plate. The multi-stroke cylinder utilizes a plurality of mechanically linked pneumatic or hydraulic pistons having different stroke lengths that can be added together in any combination, allowing the user to select any stroke length up to a predetermined, total combined stroke length, in increments equal to the stroke length of the smallest cylinder. The multi-stroke cylinder includes a head assembly having a fluid inlet for introducing fluid to the cylinder at a first pressure. The cylinder also includes a first positioning system having a plurality of pistons capable of moving a piston rod away from the first positioning system, and a second positioning system located between the head assembly and the first positioning system. The second positioning system comprises a plurality of movable pistons for displacing the piston rod a preselected distance and at least one elongated fluid supply member secured to a respective one of the pistons of the second positioning system for introducing a fluid between adjacent pistons. When a plurality of fluid supply members are used in the second positioning system, they are concentrically arranged and are at least partially coextensive with one another.

    • A digital hydraulic system converts binary digital input information into displacement of a digital drive. An air reader is used to operate binary latch valves through an air hydraulic interface. A flow sensing system and a hydraulic logic unit cooperate to provide high speed exchange between the piston adders of the digital drive prior to displacement of the load. A hydraulic cylinder sweeps the load about a vertical axis. A selfcooling, air-driven hydraulic pump with an accumulator, provides relatively constant pressure. A damper secured to the piston adders has an additional drive for providing precise location at the end of damping. An incremental paper tape feed with a four motion rack with toggle action indexes the air reader.
