摘要： Apparatus and method for treating by injecting a fluid treatment material into porous structures such as those formed from concrete, brick, stone, marble, and wood. The apparatus includes an applicator head having an inner chamber and an outer chamber surrounding the inner chamber both of which chambers are connected with a vacuum source. The inner chamber is also connected with a source of pressurized liquid treatment material. The method is for treating such porous structures and includes the steps of engaging the structures with the applicator head, drawing a vacuum on at least the outer chamber to secure the applicator head to the structure, and supplying the pressurized liquid treatment material to the inner chamber to impregnate the structure to be treated.

In another embodiment, the injection hood may be attached to a porous material with a mechanical connector and the protective material may be injected through a plurality of orifices into the porous material.

摘要： A method and apparatuses for treating railroad ties by injecting a flowable treating material through unused or unoccupied spike holes in railroad rail tie plates which anchor the bottom flange of a railroad rail to the wooden ties. In one embodiment of the invention, the apparatus includes a backpack unit including a tank and pump assembly secured to the back of a user by shoulder straps with a manually manipulated injector device insertable into an unused or unoccupied spike hole in a tie plate in a sealed relationship thereto. The injector or applicator includes a rigid tubular member having a nozzle and valve at the lower end, a T-handle at the upper end and a valve actuator associated with one of the handgrip areas of the T-handle with the T-handle also being connected with a flexible hose communicated with the supply tank and pump assembly thereby enabling a user to walk alongside a railroad rail and inject treating material through the unoccupied spike holes and between the upper surface of the wooden tie and the bottom surface of the tie plate for protecting the wooden tie from fungi and other conditions which cause decay of the wooden tie. In another embodiment of the invention, the treating apparatus is mounted on a pickup truck or other vehicle which can be driven alongside a pair of railroad rails with the vehicle including a pair of adjustable, collapsible and foldable booms supporting supply hoses interconnecting a supply tank and pump assembly with manually manipulated injectors.

摘要： A device for pressure feeding or injecting a liquid chemical such as a fumigant or the like into a wooden pole is described. One form of the invention comprises a plug member having a threaded shank portion and a hexagonal head portion. A longitudinally extending bore extends through the head portion and the shank portion. A one-way check valve is inserted into the outer end of the longitudinally extending bore to provide a means for injecting the liquid chemical into the pole. A bleeder opening is formed in the shank portion which extends outwardly from the longitudinally extending bore to enable air to be discharged therefrom as the liquid chemical is initially injected into the bore. A modified form of the invention is also described.
