摘要： A machining head replaceable rotating tool having a fastening male screw and a fastening female screw disposed on respective shaft centers of one and the other of a machining head and a holder, the fastening male and female screws being threadably engaged with each other to concentrically and removably attach the machining head to a tip portion of the holder, the machining head and the holder being disposed with abutting surfaces abutted against each other in a fastened state when the fastening male and female screws are threadably engaged, the machining head replaceable rotating tool being integrally and rotationally driven via the holder in a tool rotation direction causing the fastening male and female screws to be fastened by a machining load to perform predetermined machining with the machining head, the abutment of the abutting surfaces preventing the fastening male and female screws from being further fastened by a machining load, the fastening male and female screws being saw-tooth buttress screws having a following flank angle α smaller than a leading flank angle β.

A cutting region is at the axial forward end of the cutter member, and a male threaded portion is adjacent the axial rearward end of the cutter member. A shank member has an axial forward end and a shank bore opening at the axial forward end. The shank bore has an axial shank bore length. The shank bore contains a female threaded portion and an axial rearward shank bore portion axially rearward of the female threaded portion. The axial rearward shank bore portion has a terminal end. When the male threaded portion of the cutter member fully engages the female threaded portion of the shank member, the axial rearward end of the cutter member being spaced a first distance axially forward of the terminal end of the axial rearward shank bore portion.

摘要： A segmented orbital drill includes a segmented portion with a semi-finishing cutting portion and a plurality of finishing cutting portions. The semi-finishing cutting portion and finishing cutting portions are separated by grooves formed by a front wall and a rear wall. The segmented portion allows for a fresh cutting edge (i.e., rear wall of the groove) to be revealed as the orbital drill wears in the axial direction. The segmented portion also causes less contact with the workpiece, which reduces power consumption and minimizes deflection of the orbital drill. The segmented orbital drill also includes an optional pilot at one end of the drill, and a clearance neck portion between a shank and the segmented portion. A method of machining a workpiece using the segmented orbital drill is also disclosed.
