    • A shaft for a golf club having a total length and a total weight. The shaft includes first and second tubular portions. The first and second tubular portions are formed of first and second materials, respectively. The second tubular portion has a proximal end and a tip end. The tip end has an outside diameter of less than 0.400 inches. The distal end of the first tubular portion is co-cured to the proximal end of the second tubular portion. The shaft has a resistance to twisting about a longitudinal axis of the shaft, when tested under a torsional stability test and measured at an approximate midpoint of the total length of the shaft, of less than 2.0 degrees in a torsional stability test. The shaft when measured from the tip end of the shaft in a balance point test device has a balance point of less than 46 percent.

    • The wood or iron golf club has a reduced shaft width transverse to the direction of motion and a greater shaft depth parallel to the direction of motion, therefore, has a reduced frontal area that creates less aerodynamic drag and a higher resistance to bending opposite the direction of motion, respectively. The low drag rigid shaft allows higher head velocity, higher momentum transfer to the ball, higher ball velocity, and longer more accurate drives then current clubs with elongated cone shaped symmetrical shafts.The wood or iron gulf club shaft-head configuration has the shaft axis intersecting the common axis of the horizontal component of the line of play and the head center of gravity. The club therefore does not create a torque about the shaft axis during the swing motion or ball impact and facilitates greater accuracy and consistency in hitting the optimum point on the ball with the optimum point on the club head.

    • A method of making a grip for a handle includes forming a substantially cylindrical body portion from a material at least partially comprised of cork and forming an elongate cavity through the substantially cylindrical body portion. The method also includes separating the substantially cylindrical body portion into a plurality of ring segments each having an inner surface area, first side surface area, second side surface area, and an outer surface area, applying an adhesive to the inner surface area, first side surface area, and second side surface area and applying the ring segments to a handle, such that each of the plurality of ring segments securely adheres to the handle and to an adjacent ring segment. The method further includes pressing each of the plurality of ring segments onto the handle to form the grip and customizing the geometrical configuration of the grip to conform to the preference of a user.

    • A golf club grip system having grips that have grip diameters ranging from 1.0 inches (25.4 mm) to 1.2 inches (30.5 mm). Additionally, each golf club grip may include an outer wrap and an inner layer. The outer wrap is substantially thinner than the inner layer and consists predominantly of polyurethane and felt. Specifically, in one exemplary embodiment, the outer wrap consists of two separate layers of polyurethane, a layer of felt, and two thin strips of adhesive tape. By utilizing these materials, the outer wrap provides a high traction, i.e., slip resistant, surface with improved shock and vibration dampening characteristics. Additionally, by utilizing the combination of the outer wrap and the inner layer, the grip provides shock absorption with substantially increased resistant to torsional forces.
