    • Disclosed is a radio-over-fiber (ROF) system for supporting various services, the system comprising: a central access platform (CAP) for providing time division duplexing (TDD), frequency division duplexing (FDD), and broadcasting services, converting a TDD downward signal and FDD/broadcasting downward signals into optical signals, respectively, transmitting the converted optical signals to a remote access unit (RAU), converting a TDD upward signal and an FDD upward signal, which have been transmitted as optical signals from the RAU, into electric signals, respectively, and using an optical circulator in order to separate upward and downward signals from each other; and the RAU for converting the TDD downward signal and FDD/broadcasting downward signals transmitted from the CAP into electric signals, respectively, converting the TDD upward signal and FDD upward signal to be transmitted to the CAP into optical signals, respectively, and using an optical circulator in order to separate upward and downward signals from each other, wherein the RAU includes a plurality of signal filtering/separating/combining units, which wirelessly emit the TDD downward signal and FDD/broadcasting downward signals, having been converted into electric signals, through an antenna, and which separate wirelessly-received TDD upward signal and FDD upward signal from each other.

    • An automatic gain controller for controlling gain values of an optical fiber amplifier. The automatic gain controller includes a first opto-electric conversion unit for converting a portion of optical signals that are input into the optical fiber amplifier into electrical signals to output the converted electrical signals. A second opto-electric conversion unit converts a portion of output optical signals output from the optical fiber amplifier into electrical signals and then outputs the converted electrical signals. A transient suppressing unit generates pulse typed waveforms when a change in channel number is generated during monitoring outputs of the first opto-electric conversion unit, and a comparing unit compares the sum of output signals of the transient suppressing unit and output signals of the first opto-electric conversion unit with output signals of the second opto-electric conversion unit. A control unit outputs pump control signals in response to the output signals of the transient suppressing unit and output signals of the comparing unit, and a first pumping light source unit supplies pumping light to the optical fiber amplifier in response to the inputting of the pump control signals.

    • A method and apparatus for transmitting data to an Access Point (AP) and a Mobile Station (MS) in a Time Division Duplex (TDD) optical repeater. A main donor generates a control frame for controlling a remote, upon receipt of data from the AP, and transmits the control frame to the remote during a non-downlink transmission period. The remote analyzes the control frame received from the main donor, detects sync information about a downlink signal and an uplink signal, and remote control information from the analyzed control frame, performs a control operation according to the detected remote control information, and generates a status frame for notifying the main donor of the status of the remote upon receipt of data from the MS. The status frame is transmitted from the remote to the main donor during a non-uplink transmission period.
