    • The present invention provides a method of selecting receiving pairs from a set of at least three receivers that may be used to localize an emitter. This involves identifying the set of at least three receivers to be used to localize the emitter. An isochron may be developed for each receiver pair wherein each isochron has a finite width. The intersection of two isochrons creates an uncertainty parallelogram. When the intersection of two isochrones is substantially orthogonal or subtends a relatively large angle, uncertainty based on the intersection angle is minimized and uncertainty becomes primarily a function of isochron, width. To determine acceptable or best receiver pairs to be used, the intersections of each isochron pair may be analyzed. The uncertainty parallelograms and intersection angles are compared for each pair of intersecting isochrons. Then, receiver pairs that produced the isochrons that result in a reduced or compact uncertainty parallelogram may be selected.

    • This invention discloses an automated corn popping apparatus including a kettle, a support arrangement for supporting and operating the kettle, a display arrangement for enclosing the corn popping apparatus, a controller for automatically operating the corn popping apparatus, and a conduit system for introducing cooking oil into the kettle. In a preferred embodiment, the kettle includes a kettle and an agitator mechanism. A support arrangement includes a mechanism for rotating the kettle from a position for popping corn to a position for dumping corn into the display arrangement. Also, a shaft mechanism is used for raising and lowering the lid and rotating the agitator mechanism. The shaft mechanism is in fluid association with a source of cooking oil at one end of its length, and has apertures located near the other end of its length so as to provide a conduit for the supply of cooking oil directly into the kettle. The controller includes actuators for necessary mechanical movement, sensors to determine component positions, and a programmer to receive sensor signals and control actuators to achieve automatic corn popping.

    • An electrical component carrier comprises a plate assembly. The assembly has a non-conductive plate sandwiched between two conductive plates. The plates of the assembly have holes to receive the pins of the component to be carried, the holes being in registry, and the holes in the non-conductive plate having lesser internal diameters than those in the conductive plates. The plate assembly has side-walls and depending skirts to protect the pins when the component is inserted. The sidewalls have clips which lock the component in place, or a retainer plate may be used which has a pair of lugs which cooperate with the clips to latch the component to the plate assembly. When the component is inserted, the conductive plates protect against electrostatic charge accumulation, and the skirts physically protect the pins as well as electrically isolate them. The pins are also isolated by being held in the holes of the non-conductive plate out of contact with the conductive plates.
