    • Disclosed is an apparatus and method for controlling an air cleaning. The apparatus includes an air cleaning element, an AC high-voltage generator and a control unit. The air cleaning element generates negative ions and ozone using plasma discharge, and cleans indoor air using the negative ions and ozone. The AC high-voltage generator generates an AC high-voltage, and applies the AC high-voltage to the air cleaning element. The control unit varies at least one of the AC voltage and AC frequency applied to the air cleaning element by the AC high-voltage generator depending on a state of indoor air being cleaned using the air cleaning element. Therefore, it is possible to effectively generate negative ions while minimizing ozone generation to an acceptable level depending on a state of indoor air, thereby increasing air cleaning performance so as to sterilize and clean contaminants more efficiently.

    • A surface discharge type air cleaning device comprises an insulating dielectric body formed in the shape of a sheet, a discharge electrode formed at the upper surface of the insulating dielectric body, and a ground electrode formed at the lower surface of the insulating dielectric body. The discharge electrode is formed of a closed pattern having a predetermined area on the upper surface of the insulating dielectric body, and the discharge electrode has at least one non-pattern part disposed in a part where the pattern is formed. The electrode is not formed at the non-pattern part. The pattern of the discharge electrode is formed in the depressed structure. Consequently, it is possible to lower onset voltage and input energy and to accomplish uniform and stable plasma formation, and therefore, the number of hydroxyl radicals and negative ions is increased while the amount of ozone is decreased.

    • An actuator for optical pick-up using the concentrated magnetization method that is capable of moving an objective lens converging a laser light beam onto an optical disc. In the actuator, a lens holder is attached to the objective lens. Coils are wound around the lens holder to receive a current. A permanent magnet constructs a magnetic circuit along with the coils to generate a driving force for the objective lens and is magnetized to concentrate a magnetic flux toward the coils. The actuator can improve a driving sensitivity in a wide frequency band with the aid of the permanent magnet in which a magnetic flux density concentrates on the effective surfaces of the coils.
