    • An adjustable pitch drum consists of a drum shell of any suitable shape having an open end, a drum head pitch changing mechanism, and a supporting structure mounting the pitch changing mechanism to the drum shell. The pitch changing mechanism consists of a threaded rod adjustably threaded to the supporting structure, a drum head clamping hoop mounted coaxially on the rod for rotation thereabout, and a drum head tensioning hoop non-rotatably mounted on the other end of the rod. Rotation of the drum head and its clamping hoop about the rod varies the tension of the drum head on the tensioning hoop, thereby changing the pitch of the drum. Movement of the threaded rod in the supporting structure changes the spacing of the drum head from the drum shell open end, thereby changing the resonance characteristics of the drum assembly.

    • A shoulder supported carrier structure supports percussion instruments on shoulder shoulders of a user is disclosed. A connecting member that spans between the shoulder supporting member behind the user or performer. The connecting member is joined to an arm that is connected to at a back member that allows the back member to pivot and translate relative to the two shoulder supporting members to allow the back member to align with a back of a user. The connecting member may be joined to the one arm with a frictional connection. The arm may be connected to the back member with a frictional connection. The back member at least partially contours to the shape of the back and may further include an inflatable cushioning bladder and is positioned between and under shoulder blades of the user to increase arm mobility.

    • An instrument carrier is disclosed for supporting one or more drums without using traditional “J” rods components. The carrier uses sliders that eliminate the interference with the user's legs and more particularly the user's thighs and provides a more natural stride of the user. The drum mounting structure is repositioned or translated on the sliders. The carrier allows the drum to be rigidly mounted in a variety of positions relative to the user. The cantilevered weight of the drum(s) rotates the drum or drum array to lock the drum(s) into a vertical or horizontal slots or saddle. In another embodiment a bridge extends from the carrier to a single post or tube to support a slidably mounted single drum. The structure also eliminates the necessity of a structurally rigid fixed abdomen plate and allows for use of a flexible and conforming abdomen plate.

    • Improvements in an expandable musical instrument stand where the components of the stand are constructed with tubular sections. The tubular section telescope with an extension mechanism placed between the tubular members to assist in adjusting the playing height of the musical instrument. The expandable construction allows the musical stand to be broken down into smaller sections to make it easier to transport and simple to erect. The expandable section is ideally used with the center tube with a three or four leg stand where the legs can be collapsible on the center tube or the legs can be constructed with the same or similar construction as the center tube where they can be stacked and clamped with a collar.

    • Novel hardware is disclosed for supporting drums. The hardware is of a hinged construction and has one part of the hinge connectable to an external support, e.g., J-rods on a fixed pedestal support or a marching drum carrier, and another part of the hinge connectable to the shell of a drum or to the tension rods on a drum or to other supporting hardware installed on the drum. A hinged support for one or more drums having means for adjusting the position of a drum to a fixed support or drum carrier. The hinged support may be for an array of drums having means for adjusting the position of the drum array pivotally and inwardly and outwardly relative to fixed drums. The hinged support may include J-rod supports. The hinged support includes a back bar and drums are adjustably supported thereon and J-rod supports are adjustably supported on the back bar. The back bar may be adjustable in length for adjusting the location of drums supported thereon. The hardware may have means for pivotally adjusting the position of one drum in a drum array relative to another.
