摘要： An electrical connector (1) includes an insulating housing (2), a plurality of contacts (4) received in a plurality of passageways (24) defined in the housing, a metal shell (3) and a spacer (5). The housing has a pair of protrusions (26) projecting downwardly on a lower wall (22) thereof. The shell encloses the insulating housing and comprises an upper and a lower body portions (30, 31). The lower body portion defines a pair of receiving apertures (310), which each receive a corresponding protrusion of the housing therein. The spacer has a base plate (50) defining a plurality of through holes (500) to allow extension of the contacts therethrough. The spacer is assembled to the housing and presses the lower body portion of the shell against the lower wall of the housing.

The housing has a base wall (12) which defines a recess (122) at each of opposite ends thereof and a number of cutouts (123) located symmetrically in a front surface and a bottom surface thereof, and a mating wall (11). Each boardlock consists of a body (44), a head (42) projecting upwardly from the body and seated in a corresponding recess, a pair of arms (45) bilaterally projecting from the body and extending into corresponding cutouts, and a pair of feet (43). The shield has a pair of fingers (33) extending across the heads for fitting the boardlocks to the base wall and establishing a grounding path therethrough. The width of the connector is minimized to substantially as that of the mating wall.

摘要： An electrical connector including a dielectric base (11) and a dielectric tongue (123) projecting upwardly from the base, a number of terminals (20) insert molded in the tongue, and a pair of sidewalls (130). Each terminal has a body (21) secured on a side of the tongue for electrically engaging with a contact of the complementary connector, a tail (22) extending downwardly from the body and embedded in the base with a soldering section (221) thereof protruding from the base for soldering on a printed circuit board, and a head (26) extending upwardly from the body and embedded in the tongue. The tongue defines a number of apertures (122) in opposite sides thereof alternating with the bodies of the terminals. The apertures extend into the tongue for receiving positioning blocks (42) formed on a mold (4). The positioning blocks are used to catch lateral sides of the terminals for positioning the terminals when the terminals are subject to insert molding process.
