    • In a transmission including a transmission casing, a rotational speed changing mechanism, and a differential mechanism which has a differential power input gear, a power output shaft transmits the rotary power output of the rotational speed changing mechanism to the differential mechanism via a power output gear provided at its one end and meshing with the differential power input gear. This power output shaft is formed with a first lubricant passage extending from its one end opening at the one end of the power output shaft to the other end opening to a point on its side surface. A bearing rotatably supports a part of the power output shaft proximate to the power output gear from the transmission casing. This bearing is located close to the abovementioned point on the side surface of the power output shaft. A lubricant collecting and directing member, provided as mounted to the transmission casing, includes an extension portion which extends into that one end of the abovementioned first lubricant passage from its open end, a collection portion for collecting lubricant stirred up by the differential power input gear, and a second lubricant passage which communicates the collection portion with the extension portion. The lubricant collected by the collection portion is thus supplied to the first lubricant passage and then to the bearing.

    • The present invention provides a printing apparatus and a printing method which, even if print media of different sizes are printed, can print images in well-balanced, optimum layouts according to the size of each of the print media. Thus, the printing apparatus according to the present invention has leading end detector which detects a leading end of a print medium and trailing end detector which detects a trailing end of the print medium. The printing apparatus further has print control unit which prints images based on a first print data for which a print start position is determined on the basis of the leading end detected by the leading end detector and second print data for which a print start position is determined on the basis of the trailing end detected by the trailing end detector.

    • This invention provides a digital broadcasting receiving unit capable of achieving synchronization of time information between a base station and a receiving unit with reference clock without use of a crystal oscillator (VCXO) having a variable frequency. The crystal oscillator oscillates a clock of a predetermined fixed frequency. A variable digital dividing circuit divides a fixed frequency by a division ratio so as to change the division ratio. A system decoder detects reference time information from the base station. A reference counter generates time information of a receiving unit. A phase comparator detects a difference between reference time information and time information. A division ratio control circuit controls the change of the division ratio based on the difference. The reference counter generates time information based on a clock having a frequency obtained by dividing by the variable digital dividing circuit and feeds back time information to the phase comparator.
