    • A miniature slide switch assembly in which a fixed base member, has a pair of opposite longitudinal side surface, molded out of any suitable insulating material. Each of the side surface is provided with a pair of recesses. At least two adjacent molded fixed contacts are disposed in the longitudinal direction of the base member. A movable casing member slidably rides on the base member in such a manner that it can slide in the direction of the array of the fixed contacts, each of opposite side surfaces of the movable casing member having a resilient detent bar. The resilient detent bar is provided with, at the top end thereof, a finger capable of being alternately snap fitted into the recesses, and an electrically conductive inversed U-shaped strip is accommodated in the cavity of the movable casing member. This strip can slide over the adjacent fixed contacts in accordance with the movement of the movable casing member, whereby, when the conductive strip is in the first position, it bridges two adjacent fixed contacts, and when the conductive strip is in the second position, the bridging of the conductive strips between two adjacent fixed contacts is broken.

    • One inertial sensor detects an acceleration in a driving direction as well as an angular rate about one axis and an acceleration in a detecting direction at the same time. A driving-direction acceleration detecting unit is provided to members vibrating in mass members on the left and right via an elastic body. In this manner, when an acceleration is applied in the driving direction, the mass members on the left and right normally vibrated with a same amplitude and in opposite phases have displacement amounts in a same phase, and the driving-direction acceleration detecting unit detects the displacement amounts in the same phase as a capacitance change, thereby detecting the acceleration in the driving direction.

    • Construction of a steering column support apparatus is achieved that is able to suppress an increase in the height dimension, maintain a function of the steering column 6a being able to displace smoothly in the forward direction during a secondary collision and prevent the steering column from dropping down even when the steering column 6a is displaced in the forward direction due to a secondary collision. The steering column support apparatus comprises a non-dropping bracket 45 that is fastened to the vehicle body, a dropping bracket 46 that is supported by the steering column 6a, a pair of bolts 47 and a pair of support capsules 16a. During a secondary collision, the supporting force of the support capsules 16a for supporting the non-dropping bracket 45 is lost and the steering column 6a displaces in the forward direction together with the bolts 47, support capsules 16a and dropping bracket 46, however, does not drop from the non-dropping bracket.
