    • A method for fabricating a liquid crystal display device including a liquid crystal layer clamped between a first and second substrates. The method includes the steps of: forming a pixel electrode pattern on the first substrate; painting a resist film on the pixel electrode pattern; exposing and developing the resist film and forming a resist pattern having a shape on the pixel electrode pattern in which multiple branches extend outwardly from both sides of a main stem connecting among the multiple braches; and conducting an ashing process and a thermosetting process for the resist pattern. Liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer orient approximately in vertical to a surface of the liquid crystal layer in a non-driving state, and the liquid crystal molecules orient approximately in parallel to the surface of the liquid crystal layer in a driving state.

    • The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a substrate for MVA type or transreflective liquid crystal display device capable of obtaining a substrate for liquid crystal display device having a good display quality while simplifying the production process and a method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device using same. A positive-working resist is spread over a glass substrate to form a resist layer thereon. The resist layer is exposed to light and developed to form a resist pattern having linear patterns. The linear pattern in the resist pattern is then irradiated with ultraviolet rays. The resist pattern is then subjected to heat treatment at a predetermined temperature to form a structure having a flat portion formed by the melt flow of the linear pattern irradiated with ultraviolet rays and a protrusion formed by the reflow of the linear pattern unirradiated with ultraviolet rays.

    • The invention relates to a vertically aligned liquid crystal display and a method of manufacturing the same and provides a liquid crystal display in which singular points can be sufficiently controlled to achieve high display quality and a method of manufacturing the same. A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate having a pixel electrode including one or more electrode units electrically connected to each other, a second substrate facing the pixel and having a light shield portion constituted by a metal film, a color separation filter at an opening thereof, and a common electrode on a surface thereof, and a liquid crystal layer having negative dielectric constant anisotropy sealed between the first substrate and the second substrate. A surface of the common electrode facing at least one-fourth of a non-electrode part at the outer periphery of the electrode unit is formed with a height of 0.2 μm or more or a height in the range from 0.4 to 1.5 μm if possible above a surface of the common electrode facing a part of the electrode unit substantially in the middle thereof.
