摘要： An information processing apparatus, including: a data processing section reproducing contents stored in a medium having a general purpose area in which encrypted contents and utilization controlling information corresponding to the contents are stored, and a protected area configured from a plurality of blocks to which access limitation is set and which include a block in which an encryption key for decrypting the contents and information of a plurality of validity periods indicative of content utilization permission periods applied to the application contents of the encryption key are stored, wherein the data processing section acquires the utilization controlling information of a reproduction object content, extracts selection information of validity period information to be applied to the content, and decides whether or not content reproduction is to be permitted by comparison between the validity period information selected from within the block and current date information in accordance with the selection information.

摘要： A list of video fingerprinting data that represents a feature of the newest video content is extracted from a digital video disc 160 or provided by a copyright supervisor authorized by a managing organization. The list of the video fingerprinting data is recorded in a non-volatile memory 181. When video content is reproduced from the digital video disc 160, a fingerprinting data calculating portion 187 extracts the feature of the video content and obtains video fingerprinting data. When the data is contained in the list, the reproduction for the video content is restricted. Thus, the reproduction for an illegal digital video disc 160 can be restricted until the copyright supervisor permits the reproduction for the digital video disc 160.

摘要： A signal processing system includes a reproducing apparatus for reading information from a recording medium having unique information and an information processing apparatus for mutually authenticating and connecting the reproducing apparatus. The reproducing apparatus includes a final encryption key generating portion that generates a content information encryption key in accordance with intermediate key information. A first transmitting portion transmits the intermediate key information to the information processing apparatus. A second transmitting portion transmits the content information encryption key to the information processing apparatus. The information processing apparatus includes a content information encrypting portion that encrypts content information using the content information encryption key, and an intermediate key information encrypting portion that encrypts the intermediate key information using key information unique to the recording medium. A recording portion records the encrypted content information and the encrypted intermediate key information to the recording medium.
