    • A method for requesting a connection setup of a connection between a terminal (302) and a node (304) of a radio access network (300) is described. The radio access network (300) supports a first access and a second access of the terminal (302) to the radio access network (300) for the connection. The method is executed by the terminal (302). The method comprises determining (314) whether to at least partially accept a network defined condition of the radio access network (300) associated with the first access, selecting (316), from the first access and the second access, the first access based on a result of the step (314) of determining, and requesting (320a, b), from the node (304), the selected first access for the connection. The method may enable an improved management of a quality of service by the radio access network in association with a connection between a terminal and the radio access network.

    • The present invention relates to a scheduling apparatus (100) and a method for a cellular Time-Division Duplex (TDD) radio communication system (180). The apparatus comprises a storage unit configured for holding a database comprising topographical information concerning a geographical area covered by the communication system. The apparatus also comprises a position unit configured for obtaining information concerning a geographical position held by at least one of a first and a second radio communication device (120;160) of the communication system within said area. The apparatus further comprises a scheduling unit configured for allocating a communication time slot as an uplink time slot or a downlink time slot for radio communication between a first base station (110) and said first device (120) of the communication system. Whether the time slot is allocated as an uplink time slot or a downlink time slot is dependent on said position information and on said topographical information.

    • The present disclosure relates to User Equipments, UEs or Machine Type Communication, MTC (104, 202, 302, 304, 700) devices and base stations (102, 204, 306, 600) and methods therein for adapting the allocating of random access resources to user equipments of a cell served by a base station. A method in a base station (102, 204, 306, 600) where each RA preamble group maps or corresponds to an uplink allocation size, comprises receiving a RA preamble from a UE in a cell served by the base station, the preamble indicating a requested resource allocation size for uplink transmission of UE data. Radio resource usage (S-348, 402) in the cell is monitored and a mapping between groups of RA preambles and uplink allocation sizes (S-356, 412) configured for the cell is adapted based on the monitored usage of radio resources. UEs or MTC devices are thus provided with an efficient means to have their UL allocation needs for transmission of user data in conjunction with step 3 of the Random Access procedure met.
