    • A driving device for a liquid crystal panel that includes: plural liquid crystal cells arranged in a matrix shape; pixel electrodes provided for the respective liquid crystal cells; plural data lines for inputting an image signal to the respective pixel electrodes; a data line driver that generates a sampling signal for sampling the image signal from inputted plural timing signals; plural sampling circuits provided for the respective data lines that sample the image signal according to the sampling signal and output the image signal to the data lines; and a dummy element formed on, at least, a substrate identical with a substrate on which the sampling circuits are formed, the driving device for a liquid crystal panel including: a signal generating circuit that generates, as the plural timing signals, a start signal and other signals generated with the start signal as a reference of a phase; a reference signal generating circuit that generates a reference signal with a horizontal synchronizing signal of an image signal as a trigger and with timing after elapse of a predetermined time as a start point; a phase comparator that compares phases of an inputted monitor signal and the reference signal and outputs phase comparison information; and an adder that outputs an integrated count value for adjusting timing for generating the start signal on the basis of an initial count value set in advance and the phase comparison information from the phase comparator, wherein the signal generating circuit generates plural timing signals including the start signal with the horizontal synchronizing signal as a trigger and with timing based on the integrated count value as a start point and supplies the timing signals to the liquid crystal panel.

The two-dimensional lookup table can store, as the correcting value, correcting values corresponding respectively to combinations to be specified by an intensity level of the first chrominance signal and an intensity level of the second chrominance signal.

    • A two-dimensional bar code reading method and apparatus search the finder pattern in a scanned image of a two-dimensional bar code symbol, find orientation modules, find data modules, and convert the symbol to data characters as part of the decoding process for the scanned image of a MaxiCode symbol. In the data module search part of a MaxiCode symbol decoding process, position and shape information is calculated for data modules on an orientation axis, assuming an orientation axis passing the finder pattern center point, inside orientation module center point, and outside orientation module center point (step to S1801). Based on pixel data corresponding to the calculated location of the center point in each module, a bit pattern is generated where black data cells are 1 bits and white cells are 0 bits (S1802). The locations of MaxiCode symbol data modules in the area between orientation axes are then calculated (S1803). Pixel data corresponding to the calculated location of the center point of each data module is then converted to a bit pattern where black data cells are 1 bits and white data cells are 0 bits (S1804), and the data module search process then ends.

    • A gamma correction circuit is provided for gamma correcting first and second polarity video signals of different polarity. The first control transistor Tr2 is turned on with its base supplied with a first reference voltage when a first polarity video signal is input, and remains turned off the rest of the time. A second control transistor Tr3 is connected between the ground terminal 52 and the fourth resistance element R4. The second control transistor Tr3 is turned on with its base supplied with a second reference voltage when a second polarity video signal is input and remains turned off the rest of the time.

    • A clamp and gamma correction circuit which processes an image signal through a clamp circuit and then a gamma correction circuit in that order to perform a proper gamma correction with a clamp voltage adjusted to its appropriate value. An image signal varying between a black level and a white level is applied to the clamp circuit. The clamp circuit outputs an image signal, the black level of which is clamped to the clamp voltage, while the amplitude between the black level and the white level is maintained at constant level. The gamma correction circuit amplifies the image signal output by the clamp circuit at different amplification factors based on a reference voltage. A voltage setting circuit varies the clamp voltage and the reference voltage but with the voltage difference therebetween kept constant, and applies the clamp voltage and the reference voltage to the clamp circuit and the gamma correction circuit, respectively.

The counter electrode voltage control module has: a counter electrode voltage setting module that sets a counter electrode voltage control level corresponding to the light control level; and a counter electrode voltage generation module that generates the counter electrode voltage in response to the set counter electrode voltage control level. This arrangement enables dynamic adjustment of the counter electrode voltage of the liquid crystal panel in response to a dynamic change in amount of the illumination light for irradiating the liquid crystal panel.
