    • A device for running a tape-like medium between a pair of reels in accordance with one of a plurality of tape-running modes having different tape running speeds has the following constituents: a reel driving apparatus for rotating the reels; a circuit for detecting the states of rotation of the reels and for generating reel rotation data; an instruction circuit for giving an instruction for changing the tape running mode; a holding means or memory for holding the reel rotation data when the tape running mode is changed in response to the instruction given by the instruction circuit; and a control circuit for controlling the reel driving apparatus in accordance with the reel rotation data held by the memory, for a predetermined period after the changing of the tape running mode effected by the instruction circuit.

    • There is disclosed an information signal reproducing apparatus for reproducing information signals from a magnetic record bearing medium on which information signals are recorded with pilot signals of four different frequencies recurrently superimposed thereon. The apparatus comprises magnetic heads which are arranged to reproduce said information signals and said pilot signals by tracing said magnetic record bearing medium and an erasing head which is arranged to trace said magnetic record bearing medium in equal tracing direction to that of said magnetic heads and which is able to erase at least the information signals recorded on said magnetic record bearing medium and to reproduce said pilot signals. At the time of controlling a tracing position of said magnetic heads relative to said magnetic record bearing medium, four local pilot signals having the same frequencies as those of said pilot signals, respectively, are recurrently generated in a predetermined rotation. The state of said pilot signals reproduced by said magnetic heads is monitored, using said four local pilot signals and the tracing position on said medium of said magnetic heads is controlled, depending upon the state of said pilot signals. The level of a specific pilot signal from among said pilot signals reproduced by said erasing head is detected and the generating sequence of the local pilot signals is changed over, depending upon a result of such detention. According to such construction it is possible to effect the tracking control with high precision and high response speed.

    • A color video camera includes an image pick-up device for converting images into electrical signals including a plurality of color signal elements, white picture forming circuitry for introducing a white picture to the image pick-up device and a white balance control for controlling a proportion of each color signal element contained in an output of the image pick-up device so as to have a prescribed ratio. A power source switch is included for supplying current to individual circuits in the video camera. The camera also includes an operation member having three positions. The member turns off the power source switch in a first position; it turns on the switch in a second position to control the white picture forming circuitry and introduces the white picture to the image pick-up device, thereby actuating the white balance control; in a third position it turns on the power source switch to control the white picture forming circuitry so as to prevent introduction of the white picture to the image pick-up device. The second position is located between the first and third positions.
