    • A transducer device including: a base platform; an annular support member mounted on a surface of the base platform, the annular support member having a first opening positioned adjacent the surface of the base platform and a second opening positioned away from the surface of the base platform along a rotation axis; an inner shaft mounted relative to the base platform and configured to extend away from the second opening of the annular support member and rotate relative to the annular support member about the rotation axis; an inner shaft detent mechanism located at least partially within the annular support member configured for releasably securing the inner shaft in a plurality of rotational positions corresponding to each of a plurality of detent positions of the inner shaft detent mechanism as the inner shaft is rotated about the rotation axis; an outer shaft including a passage extending along an elongate axis thereof configured for receiving the inner shaft therein so that the inner shaft and outer shaft are arranged to rotate concentrically relative to each other about the rotation axis, the outer shaft further including a flanged portion configured for seating upon an outer surface of the annular support member; a PCB unit disposed on the surface of the base platform comprising: a first transducer circuit unit operably coupled to the inner shaft and responsive to rotational movement of the inner shaft about the rotation axis so that the first transducer circuit unit outputs a first electrical signal that is indicative of a rotational position of the inner shaft about the rotational axis; a second transducer circuit unit operably coupled to the outer shaft and responsive to rotational movement of the outer shaft about the rotation axis so that the second transducer circuit unit will output a second electrical signal that is indicative of a rotational position of the outer shaft about the rotational axis; a housing configured for enclosing the first and second transducer circuit units therein and having an opening disposed in a wall of the housing via which ends of the inner and outer shafts may extend outwardly of the housing along the rotation axis; and an outer shaft detent mechanism located between the outer shaft and an inner surface of the housing configured for releasably securing the outer shaft in a plurality of rotational positions corresponding to each of a plurality of detent positions of the outer shaft detent mechanism as the outer shaft is rotated about the rotation axis.

    • A control knob for controlling operation of a machine, the control knob including: an attachment surface configured for attaching the control knob to a surface of the machine; a display member comprising an electronic display module disposed thereon; a motion sensor configured for sensing motion of the user's hand, said sensor being operably-connected to the display member such that, responsive to the motion sensor sensing motion of the user's hand, the display member is configured to switch operation from a sleep mode into an active mode; an operational mode display controller for controlling display of operational modes of the machine upon the electronic display module, said operational mode display controller being configured for rotational movement around the electronic display module amongst a plurality of rotational positions, said operational mode display controller being operably connected with the electronic display module such that, responsive to the rotational movement of the operational mode display controller amongst the plurality of rotational positions, the electronic display module is configured to display a plurality of operational modes of the machine corresponding to the plurality of rotational positions; and an operational mode selector for controlling selection of one of the plurality of operational modes of the machine when said one of the plurality of operational modes is displayed on the electronic display module, the operational mode selector being configured for depressible movement to actuate selection of the operational mode displayed on the electronic display module.

    • An electrical switch unit for use with an electrical device to control operation of a DC motor of the electrical device, the electrical switch unit comprising: a housing which houses a pair of electrical switching contacts, and, an actuator operably connected with at least one of the pair of electrical switching contacts, the actuator being configured for movement relative to the pair of electrical switching contacts so as to arrange the pair of electrical switching contacts into at least one of a closed configuration wherein power is able to be supplied from the DC power source to the DC motor via the pair of electrical switching contacts, and, an opened configuration wherein power is not able to be supplied from the DC power source to the DC motor via the pair of electrical switching contacts; a signaling module associated with the electrical switch unit comprising signaling circuitry for sensing the movement of the actuator and outputting a signaling module signal indicative of the sensed movement or position of the actuator; a power module comprising at least one power switching device for controllably supplying power from the DC power source to the DC motor; a control module comprising control circuitry for receiving the signaling module signal, and responsive to the received signaling module signal, outputting a control module signal to control the at least one power switching transistor device of the power module wherein the at least one power switching device controllably supplies power from the DC power source to the DC motor to allow operation of the DC motor at a speed corresponding to the sensed movement or position of the actuator; and wherein, the signaling module is integrally connected to a first end of the control module that is located within the electrical switch unit housing to allow relatively direct electrical communication between the pair of electrical switching contacts and the control module, and, whereby the control module is configured to extend outwardly of the electrical switch housing so as to terminate at a distal second end.
