In accordance with one exemplary embodiment, cathode current is controlled to a maximum level to quickly bring the cathode temperature up to thermionic emission temperature. After lamp ignition, a cathode voltage reduction circuit is employed to reduce voltage of the external cathode heating. Power is supplied to a power factor correction circuit via an IC, in accordance with a second exemplary embodiment. Finally, a third disclosed embodiment addresses desensitizing the lamp from various deleterious parasitic capacitive effects associated with the power delivery to one or more lamps.

摘要： This disclosure describes a clear overmolding cap for protecting the photonic devices in optoelectronic packages from damage due to handling, module assembly, board assembly, and environmental exposure in field applications. The overmolding of the devices with a clear mold cap or similar material also provides a standoff for optical fibers positioned next to the active facets. The photonic devices are attached to a substrate, which may be flexible that has electronic traces that allow the photonic devices to be connected to an external device such as a semiconductor device. A technique for manufacturing the overmolding cap using a mold die system in combination with a rigid carrier is also disclosed. The rigid carrier is used to maintain the shape of the substrate during the molding process. The proposed method applies to photonic devices used in optoelectronic packages that can serve as transceivers, transmitters, or receivers.

摘要： The present invention provides a low cost device that has a true die to external fiber optic connection. Specifically, the present invention relates to an optical device package joined to a semiconductor device package. In some cases, the combination is joined using wirebond studs and an adhesive material. In other cases, the combination is joined using an anisotropic conductive film. Yet, in other cases, the combination is joined using solder material. Each of these joining mechanisms provides high levels of thermal, electrical and optical performance. The joining mechanisms can apply to optical sub-assembly and chip sub-assembly interfaces in transceivers, transmitters, as well as receivers for opto-electronic packages.

摘要： A system and method for identifying a failed storage device in a storage system comprising a plurality of storage devices connected by a ring-type network is disclosed. In one embodiment, when a storage device fails, all storage devices on the ring-type network are disconnected to re-establish communication on the ring-type network. An iterative process of connecting a subset of storage devices to the ring-type network and testing communication on the ring-type network is performed until communication on the ring-type network is re-established. Then, individual storage devices are connected to the ring-type communication until the connection of a storage device causes communication on the ring-type network to fail, thereby identifying the failed storage device. In another embodiment, devices in a reporting group are tested on a shelf-by-shelf basis.

摘要： A portable bidet which comprises an adaptor to facilitate the interconnection of the bidet with a source of water under pressure; a water discharge tube and nozzle mounted for movement from an inoperative position substantially beneath the internal rim of a toilet bowl to a predetermined operative position wherein the nozzle lies substantially centrally of the bowl; a valve for variably controlling the flow of water to the discharge tube and nozzle, and; a manually operable lever pivotally mounted adjacent the bowl but externally thereof, whereby initial movement of the lever affects movement of the discharge tube and nozzle to the operative position, and continued movement of the lever in the same direction affects gradual opening of the valve means without causing further displacement of the discharge tube and nozzle from the operating position. In the preferred embodiments this adaptor provides for the reception of hot and cold water streams, and the mixing thereof to a predetermined operating temperature. The invention further provides for fluid other than water, to be introduced into the water discharged through the nozzle, this fluid being for example, a soap solution, deoderant, or a medicinal preparation. Additionally, the incorporation of a drying facility operable independently of said bidet and subsequent to the use thereof, is invisaged.
