    • An apparatus and a method for optically scanning a surface of an object under an adverse external condition to which optical components are subjected, such as cameras and lighting sources sensitive to soiling, make use of a first imaging sensor unit having its optical components subjected to the adverse external condition, and being configured for generating reflection intensity image data associated with a target surface. A second imaging sensor unit having its optical components substantially not subjected to the adverse external condition, is configured for generating reflection intensity image data associated with a reference surface. Correction data are calculated from a comparison between the reflected intensity image data associated with the target and reference surfaces, which correction data are then applied to the reflected intensity image data associated with the target surface to generate corrected intensity image data compensating for the adverse external condition.

    • Provided is an apparatus and a method for inspecting a cloth piece, by which dirt and a tear can be reliably distinguished, and which have high accuracy to detect the dirt. The apparatus for inspecting a cloth piece includes: an inspection table 20 having a dark color section 21 and a light transmitting section 22; a first inspection camera 41 for picking up an image of reflected light from a cloth piece T passing through the dark color section 21; and a second inspection camera 42 for picking up an image of transmitted light through the cloth piece T passing through the transparent section 22. The dirt and the tear can be reliably distinguished by determining an area where the reflected light and transmitted light are both darker than a surrounding area to be dirt and by determining an area where the reflected light is darker than the surrounding area and the transmitted light is brighter than the surrounding area to be the tear. The dirt inside the cloth piece is emphasized, thereby providing high detection accuracy to detect the dirt.

    • The present invention relates to a objective measurement of fabric pillings, to a measurement apparatus which includes stereovision technique using CCD cameras, captures the 3-dimensional contours of fabric pilling and defines the degree of pilling occurrences. This invention is composed of; a step to scan the surface of a pilling-containing fabric specimen which is laid on the table and translated in the right angle of the projector laser beam; a step to reconstruct the scanned fabric surface data in to a 3D image; a step to convert the 3D image into a binary image using height-threshold method and number, area, density of pillings acquired from standard pictures; a step to calculate the x, y coordinates and height values of each and every area of the specimen; a step to regress the relationship between the height values of the pilling fabric specimen and the actual height values. Thus the measurement of fabric surface pillings using stereovision method which is composed of slit beam laser projector and a couple of CCD cameras can be a fast and accurate evaluation method regardless of the fabric's color and pattern shape.
