    • Sealing ring of an elastic material, for use in a pipe coupling in which the ring is placed in a radially inwardly open peripheral groove and is retained in said groove by means of a supporting ring(6) which sealing ring in each radial cross-section is the shape of an inwardly open, essentially rectangular trough with a circular bottom (2), a projecting lip (8) being provided which runs inwards at an angle from the end of the first circumferential wall of the trough, the free end of which lip lies at a radial distance from the axis of symmetry of the ring which is smaller than the external radius of the push-in end part of a pipe to be coupled and at the end of the second side wall of the trough, the free end of which lip lies at a greater distance from the above-mentioned axis than the free end of the first lip, the second lip being provided with a run-on face (10) which runs from a point near the bottom of the lip in the direction of that axis to an end point which lies at a distance from the axis which is smaller than the distance between the axis and the free end of the second lip, while the trough is of a depth which is greater than the radial thickness of the supporting ring, so that in the fitted state and with a push-in end part pushed through the ring an open space (14) is present between the supporting ring and the outwardly facing faces of the first and second lip.

    • The present invention is a water conduit connector for an animal water supply system. The connector has a body which receives adjacent ends of water conduit sections. Inserts are positioned into the connector body and define pockets for positioning sealing o-rings. The inserts, o-rings, and connector body receive the conduit section ends, with the o-ring being compressed to form a sealing contact with the outer surface of the water conduit. The insert includes a ridge which engages an internal groove of the connector body to securely fasten the insert within the connector body. Tapered portions of the insert and connector body facilitate the entry of the insert into the connector body. The connector facilitates manufacture because no sonic welding is needed to complete the connector body and form the pockets in the connector body which house the o-rings.

    • A composite gasket for forming a seal between a pipe bell 52 and a spigot 58 comprises a major portion 12 of non-elastomeric plastic material and a minor portion 14 of elastomeric material. The minor portion is axially encased by the major portion. The minor portion includes a sealing lip 16 extending radially inwardly from the major portion. The composite gasket can be manually inserted within a preformed grooved bell or the grooved bell can be formed over the gasket while the gasket is mounted on a mandrel. The composite gasket is particularly useful with relatively large diameter pipe systems.

    • A resilient gasket is disclosed which includes an annulus of generally U-shaped cross sectional configuration having a circular, arched, radially outwardly positioned base, a first, thin, forward wall extending radially inwardly from the base, a second relatively thick, rearward wall extending radially inwardly from the base, the forward wall and the rearward wall defining a circular, radially inwardly open, retaining ring receiving groove therebetween, the width of the groove being greater than the combined thickneses of the forward and the rearward walls. The forward wall and the rearward wall each terminate radially inwardly in a slanted, forwardly facing lip to facilitate sealing engagement with the spigot end of a section of pipe. The lip of the forward wall serves to center and to wipe the exterior periphery of the spigot end and the lip of the rearward wall serves to seal against the spigot end.
