    • A device for splicing the free ends of a wire belt comprised of pivotally interlocked laterally extending zigzag-shaped and longitudinally spaced apart wires or strips. The zigzag shape of each wire or strip results in each end of the belt having longitudinally extending laterally spaced apart loops with laterally extending sections which are disposed in complementary relationship with the space between loops in the opposite belt end. The splicer is composed of a metal strip having a plurality of laterally spaced apart hook portions corresponding with the loops and projecting integrally from the edge in staggered relationship with similar hook portions at the other edge of the strip. The hook portions engage and form a pivotal connection with the laterally extending sections in the adjacent free ends of the belt.

    • Apparatus for clamping a workpiece, such as the end portion of a conveyor belt, includes a link member having an upper end portion and a lower end portion with a receiving member secured intermediate the end portions for horizontally supporting the workpiece. A bent lever having a first end portion angularly disposed relative to a second end portion is pivotally connected at a fulcrum point to the link member upper end portion. An arcuate blade member having a clamping surface is secured to and projects outwardly from the lever arm first end portion above the receiving member. An actuator is pivotally connected at one end portion to the lever second end portion and at the opposite end to the lower end portion of the link member. The application of a selected force to the actuator in a direction away from the link member pivots the lever about the fulcrum point on the link member downwardly and urges the blade clamping surface into frictional engagement with the workpiece. The actuating force applied to the actuator is multiplied by the lever to exert upon the workpiece a resultant clamping force of substantially greater magnitude to rigidly secure the workpiece between the blade member and receiving member.

    • A belt coupling means comprising first abutment means secured or adapted to be secured to one end of the belt, second abutment means secured or adapted to be secured to the other end of the belt or an end of another belt, and a tie-bar which is engageable with the first and second abutment means, the abutting surfaces of the abutment means and the tie-bar having inter-locking configurations such that when the belt is in tension the coupling means is held together.
