摘要： A process is described for the dimerization of a substituted aromatic compound of the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X represents --OH, --SH or --NHR where R is H, an alkyl group or an aryl group; R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 represent an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an alicyclic group, a halogen atom, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, a hydroxy group, or an amino group; and R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 can have the same definition as R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 and may additionally represent a hydrogen atom; which comprises reacting the substituted aromatic compound in the presence of a peroxidase enzyme, a peroxide and a radical transfer agent in an aqueous medium.

摘要： The present invention provides a method for measuring the amount of free sulfurous acid and bound sulfurous acid in a sample using a bacterium belonging to Thiobacillus thiooxidans or Thiobacillus ferrooxidans of in which the sample is treated with acid and/or alkali to give free sulfurous acid alone in the sample. Then, the total amount of free sulfurous acid in the sample is measured by an oxidation reaction of free sulfurous acid to sulfuric acid using a bacterium belonging to Thiobacillus thiooxidans or Thiobacillus ferrooxidans.

摘要： Mixtures of enantiomeric D,L-threo 2-amino-3-hydroxy-3-phenylpropionic acids can be stereoisomerically enriched by contacting the mixture with a D-threonine aldolase. In a typical embodiment, D- and L-threo 2-amino-3-hydroxy-3-(4-methylsulfonylphenyl)propionic acid is treated with D-threonine aldolase to produce L-threo 2-amino-3-hydroxy-3-(4-methylsulfonylphenyl)propionic acid with a high ee. The benzaldehyde and amino acid formed from the D-threo isomer can be recycled.

摘要： A novel method for the production of (S)3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A provided for the enzymatic conversion of 3-methylcrotonyl coenzyme A to the desired product. The enzyme is obtained from Pseudomonas citronellolis by ammonium sulfate precipitation of a cellular lysate. The precipitate is then redissolved in a suitable buffer and yields of over 60% have been obtained by direct reaction in the buffer.
