    • A marine air conditioner (which may also be used as a heat pump) has a low volume to cooling capacity ratio, and high efficiency. A blower is connected to a shroud, and within the shroud are a water cooled tube-in-tube condenser coil and a raised lance fin evaporator coil. The condenser coil is mounted between the evaporator coil and the blower so that air is drawn past the evaporator coil, then past the condenser coil, and then discharged by the blower. The shroud and blower are mounted, along with a rotary compressor connected to the coils by refrigerant lines, in a condensate drain pan having side walls of 1.5 inches or more in height and a plurality of widely spaced drain plugs or fittings. The cooling water inlet and outlet for the condenser coil pass through a wall of the shroud, and the inlet is connected to a water pump below the water line of the boat in which the condensate pan is mounted.

    • A one-piece air circulation vent for piercing and maintaining a ventilation opening in a flexible cover or the like. The vent includes a stiff, but resilient body structure which comprises a main panel member generally triangular in plan and defining convergent side edges and an apex facing in the forward direction. The main panel member is arched transversely of the forward direction and has a generally V-shaped slot formed therein including convergent legs generally paralleling the convergent side edges of the panel member. The V-shaped slot defines the main panel into a generally triangular central cutting section and a peripheral retaining section. The side edges of the central section converge toward a sharpened apex inward of the apex of the panel member. The central section with its sharpened apex is slightly deflectable relative to the remainder of the panel member. The rear of the body structure has a louvered rear panel to allow air circulation into and out from underneath the cover.

    • A plurality of tanks situated in the vessel, each of the tanks housing a quantity of air under pressure for use in the system. Each tank connected in series would supply air via a line system to each living quarter in the vessel, perferable at two points along opposite walls of each quarter. There would be further provided an automatic switching mechanism, for example, a pendulum switch, so designed so that when the vessel would tilt beyond a "point of no return", the switch would automatically activate normally closed valves to open and allow air into the lines of the system. In addition, there could be provided a air port within each sleeping quarter to be equipped with a valving mechanism on the entrance port into the quarter so that the valving mechanism could either be automatically or manually activated to allow the pressurized air into that particular quarter. The system of tanks could be so arranged so that a quantity of air could be supplied on an emergency basis over a short period of time, through a first group of tanks, and a second group of tanks could provide a metered amount of air into each of the quarters over a longer period of time. This would, in effect, respectively provide a necessary infusion of air supply following the occurance of the accident. The system would continue to supply fresh air into the air pocket during the rescue operations.

    • An air flow device for a closed motor vehicle or boat for positioning in the rear aperture thereof which includes structure for attaching the air flow device to the rear aperture. There is a plate which is transparent in at least the central region thereof. The attachment structure, which includes a pivot means, is pivotally attached to the bottom portion of the plate and to the lower rim of the aperture. There are two vertical side members, each of which is attached to an end of the plate so as to extend outwardly from the plate. Each of the vertical side members is in sliding relationship with one of the vertical sides of the rear aperture and/or of window glass mounted therein. There are two narrow end members, each of which is attached to an unoccupied end of one of the vertical side members and extends away from the plate. When the plate is in an upright position so as to close the rear aperture, the vertical side members extend outwardly from the rear aperture of the vehicle. When the plate is in an inwardly pivoted position so as to extend upwardly and inwardly from the rear aperture, thereby forming a gap between the top of the plate and the vertical plane of the rear aperture, the vertical side members extend inwardly from the rear aperture thereby preventing lateral air flow into the vehicle. The end members prevent the inwards pivoting of the device beyond the outer edges of the side members.
