摘要： Systems and methods are described for securing credentials with optical security features formed by quasi-random optical characteristics (QROCs) of credential substrates. A QROC can be a pattern of substrate element locations (SELs) on the substrate that includes some SELs that differ in optical response from surrounding SELs. During manufacturing, a QROC of a substrate can be characterized, hidden by a masking layer, and associated with a substrate identifier. During personalization, personalization data can be converted into an authentication graphic formed on the substrate by de-masking portions of the masking layer according to a de-masking pattern. The graphic formation can result in a representation that manifests a predetermined optical response only when the de-masking pattern is computed with knowledge of the hidden QROC. The authentication graphic and optical response can facilitate simple human authentication of the credential without complex or expensive detection equipment.

摘要： The present invention describes methods and apparatuses for creating superposition shape images by superposed base and revealing layers of lenslet gratings. The superposition shape images form a message recognizable by a human observer or by an image acquisition and computing device such as a smartphone. The superposition shape images may be created by different superposition techniques ranging from 1D moiré, 2D moiré and level-line moiré superposition techniques to lenticular image and phase shift superposition techniques. Moiré superposition techniques enable creating superposition shape images at different apparent depth levels. Applications comprise the protection of documents and valuable articles against counterfeits, the creation of eye-catching advertisements as well as the decoration of buildings and exhibitions.

摘要： A method of manufacturing an image element array for a security device is disclosed. The method comprises: (a) providing a metallised substrate web comprising a substrate having a first metal layer thereon on a first surface of the substrate, the first metal layer being soluble in a first etchant substance; (b) applying a first photosensitive resist layer to the first metal layer; (c) exposing the first photosensitive resist layer to radiation of a wavelength to which the resist layer is responsive through a patterned mask, by conveying the substrate web along a transport path and, during the exposure, moving the patterned mask alongside the substrate web along at least a portion of the transport path at substantially the same speed as the substrate web, such that there is substantially no relative movement between the mask and the substrate web, wherein the patterned mask comprises first pattern elements in which the mask is substantially opaque to the radiation and second pattern elements in which the mask is substantially transparent to the radiation, whereupon the exposed second pattern elements of the first photosensitive resist layer react resulting in increased solubility by a second etchant substance, the non-exposed first pattern elements remaining relatively insoluble by the second etchant substance; and (d) applying the first and second etchant substances to the substrate web whereupon the second pattern elements of both the first resist layer and the first metal layer are dissolved, the remaining first pattern elements of the first metal layer forming an image element array.

In the laminate of this invention, a relief structure forming layer includes a first region having an indented structure extending in a first direction or a direction tilted by an angle within 10 degrees to the left or right from the first direction in a plan view, and a second region including an indented structure extending in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction or a direction tilted by an angle within 65 degrees to the left or right from the second direction in a plan view. 摘要： An ID document comprises a receiving substrate in or on which an ink that is fluorescent under UV-A lighting is locally deposited, and a multilayer optical security component attached to a substrate. The optical component comprises a structurable layer and a reflective dielectric layer discontinuously deposited on the structurable layer in the plane of the component so as to produce patterns. The reflective dielectric layer has a relative transmission of at most 40% in the UV-B or UV-C range. The optical component also include an assembly of at least one layer including pigments that are fluorescent when energized by UV-B or UV-C. These are deposited on the reflective dielectric layer in a uniform or discontinuous manner in the plane of the optical component.
