    • An ostial occlusion device forms an hermetic seal around the tubal ostium of the uterotubal junction and includes a hub fabricated from a non-porous material having a circumferential edge and upper and lower surfaces. A locator pin is oriented perpendicular to and extends outward from the lower surface of the hub and is insertable into the fallopian tube at the uterotubal junction to center the hub about the tubal ostium. A ring of porous material surrounds the circumferential edge of the hub and includes an exposed lower surface which contacts the tissue surrounding the tubal ostium and receives fibroblast ingrowth to create an hermetic seal around the tubal ostium. This hermetic seal isolates the fallopian tube from the uterine cavity and renders the female reproductive system infertile.

    • Tubular pessary as a contraceptive means, which can be carried or worn on either side by hysteroscopy.The invention relates to a tubular pessary having a contraceptive action through the obturation of the proximal uterine tube in non-surgical manner by hysteroscopy and which can easily be worn on either side.The tubular pessary has a cylindrical, sensitive central part permitting the obturation of the uterine tube. It has a distal elastic loop, which prevents sliding back into the uterus of the device. It has a proximal elastic loop, which prevents migration of the device into the abdominal cavity and which can easily be removed through a hysteroscope.The object of the invention is to overcome the inadequacies of the known contraceptive means.

    • A method for sterilization of females has been devised in which one or more hypodermic needles can be inserted into the uterus to a predetermined position or location at the uterine cornu and the internal tubal ostra followed by injecting a sclerosing agent which produces a chronic lesion at that point. The entire needle assembly is characterized by slidable mounting of the needle or needles within a guide or sleeve projecting forwardly from a disposable cartridge, and a hand-held actuator is provided to selectively control successive advancement of each needle through the needle guide into the tissue and advancement of the ampule or cartridge to force the sclerosing agent or other medicament through the needle. Thereafter, the needle assembly may either be withdrawn or relocated to another position for injection of medicament through the same or other needle advancing through the same needle guide into the opposite cornul portion.

    • A fluid dispensing instrument and method for placing a drug material into the canals of the Fallopian tubes of a female. The instrument has a housing carrying a piston and cylinder assembly. An elongated flexible tubular probe attached to the housing carries an expandable sleeve. The piston and cylinder assembly is operable to fully collapse the sleeve prior to insertion through the cervical opening into the uterine cavity. After the sleeve is inserted into the uterine cavity, an ampulla storing the drug material is loaded into the instrument. The piston and cylinder assembly is then actuated to initially partially expand the sleeve. Operation of the piston and cylinder assembly moves a plunger into the ampulla to dispense the drug material into the uterine cavity above the partly expanded balloon. The sleeve is then fully expanded to move the drug material from the uterine cavity into the canals of the Fallopian tubes.

    • A fluid dispensing instrument and method for introducing a fluid, as drug materials, into the canals of the Fallopian tubes of a primate female. The dispensing instrument has a tubular probe carrying an expandable balloon assembly. A stop collar on the probe positions the balloon assembly in the uterine cavity. The balloon assembly has a sleeve member which is initially expanded to close the lower portion of the uterine cavity. The drug material is introduced through the probe into the upper portion of the uterine cavity above the expanded balloon assembly. The balloon assembly is then further expanded to force the drug material from the upper portion of the uterine cavity into the canals of the Fallopian tubes. The expanding balloon assembly divides the material and forces the drug material into both of the canals.
