    • It is disclosed a technique to reduce significantly the arc flash incident energy in commercial and industrial electrical installations connected to typical electric distribution networks, by limiting transformer inrush current and allowing more sensitive protection settings. It also disclosed a technique to increase the energy capacity of these installations. Inrush current reduction is achieved through the use of a Controlled Switching Device (CSD). It is disclosed a method for lowering an arc flash inside an electrical circuit comprising a breaker and being electrically fed with an electrical current, the method comprising the step of providing the electrical circuit with a CSD adapted to send an open or close command to the breaker in order to synchronize an open and close mechanical operation, preferably at an optimal electrical angle. It is also disclosed an electric circuit comprising a CSD for lowering an arc flash inside the circuit.

    • A high sensitivity leakage current detection interrupter (LCDI) includes a shielded wire, a current leakage detection unit, and a tripping mechanism. A live core and a neutral core of the shielded wire are respectively wrapped in two conductive shell wires. The current leakage detection unit includes a pair of rectifying diodes reversely connected in series between a live line and a neutral line of a power supply, a voltage dropping resistor, thyristors, and resistor-capacitor (RC) voltage dropping filter circuits. The tripping mechanism includes control units with on/off respectively controlled by the thyristors. When either of the thyristors is turned on, the corresponding control unit is turned on, and the tripping mechanism is actuated to switch off the power supply.

    • A DC power supply insulation fault detection circuit includes a plurality of circuit breaking elements located at a positive terminal and a negative terminal of each circuit in a power supply system, at least one leakage current detector located in the circuit, and at least one positive voltage transient compensator and at least one negative voltage transient compensator respectively bridging the positive terminal and negative terminal of the power supply system. The positive and negative voltage transient compensators respectively include a charge/discharge circuit to allow an energy storage circuit to be charged. When grounding insulation deterioration takes place at the positive or negative terminal of the leakage current detector, a leakage current loop is formed so that energy storage elements discharge and the leakage current detector detects current variations on the positive and negative terminals, and issue an alarm signal or control cutoff of the circuit breaking elements.
