    • The present invention relates to a device at filters for filtering unwanted signals from radio transmitters and/or for use during combination of radio transmitters. Said filter (1) has at least one cavity (2 and/or 3) for filtering radio signals. At least one compensating means (13 and/or 16) is provided to compensate for deviations in frequency depending on expansion or contraction of the cavity (2 and/or 3) due to expansion or contraction of the filter (1) when said filter is heated or cooled during operation. The filter (1) has at least one cavity (2 and/ /or 3) which is designed for simultaneous filtering of radio signals of at least three different modes (A, B and C and/or D, E and F) and the same frequency. The compensating means (13 and/or 16) is provided in said cavity (2 and/or 3) for compensating deviations in frequency by simultaneously affecting the radio signals of the at least three different modes (A, B and C and/or D, E and F).

    • Dual-mode cavity of waveguide bandpass filters, which allow the realization of narrow-band filters with very limited transition band and extremely low losses, without tuning or coupling screws or smooth edges. The dual mode cavity is composed of three coaxial sections of waveguide arranged in cascade and provided with irises, of which the two end sections are suited to support two modes with orthogonal polarizations and the intermediate section, consisting of a rectangular waveguide, has its side tilted with respect to the plane on which the irises lie. The whole filter composed of these cavities can be entirely designed by means of a computer and requires no tuning operation.

    • A microwave filter is composed of a set of circular cylindrical cavities arranged in cascade array and interconnected by irises having cross-slotted apertures for coupling electromagnetic power in two orthogonal TE.sub.113 modes. An input port is formed in a first of the cavities and an output port is formed in a last of the cavities. Each port is constructed as a transition between a section of rectangular waveguide and a section of circular waveguide, the section of circular waveguide being a portion of the first cavity and the last cavity, respectively, in the input and the output ports. The cross-sectional aspect ratio of the rectangular waveguide is 2:1. The ratio of a diameter of the cavity to length, as measured along a cylindrical axis in each cavity, is 0.26 thereby to provide for increased bandwidth while minimizing dispersion and transmission loss.

    • A bandpass filter has a plurality of cascade wave-guide cavities each resonating in three independent orthogonal modes. The cavities can be cylindrical or have a square cross-section. Where the cavities are circular, each cavity resonates in TE.sub.111 or TE.sub.010 modes simultaneously. Where the cavities have a square cross-section, each cavity resonates in TE.sub.011 and TM.sub.110 modes simultaneously. Between each triple-mode cavity, there is located an iris having an aperture with four separate radial slots that are offset from a center of the iris. The filter is capable of producing an elliptic function response. In a variation of the invention, an allpass filter has an output that is short circuited and, when used in conjunction with a circulator, it functions as a group delay equalizer. Previous triple-mode filters are not capable of producing an acceptable result relative to dual-mode filters.
