    • Disclosed is a vehicular headlamp, which has a reflecting surface curved outward, a lens covering the front of the reflecting surface and a filament disposed at a predetermined position at the reflecting surface, whereby the light emitted from the filament is reflected at the reflecting surface to irradiate a low beam. This headlamp further has an auxiliary reflecting surface provided at a position out of the region which extends from the filament and covers the effective reflecting surface of the reflecting surface. The auxiliary reflecting surface is positioned substantially horizontal and substantially parallel to the irradiation direction. The vehicular headlamp with the above structure can therefore produce beams to illuminate overhead signs from the light reflected at the auxiliary reflecting surface while emitting no dazzling light to an approaching vehicle from the auxiliary reflecting surface. Further, this headlamp does not deteriorate the designability of the lens.

    • The headlight has a one-piece reflector which includes an upper reflector portion with a light source for making a low beam, a lower reflector portion with another light source for making a fog light beam and a laterally positioned reflector portion for making a high beam. The lower reflector portion has a surface area which is comparatively small relative to the upper reflector portion. The light emitted from the other light source is reflected by the lower reflector portion in rays nearly parallel in a vertical longitudinal plane or inclined gently downward in the propagation direction. In the horizontal longitudinal plane light rays reflected from positions on the peak region of the lower reflector portion converge more as the distance of the position from the optic axis increases, light rays reflected from positions on the central region converge less as the distance of the position from the optic axis increases and light rays reflected from the edge region are nearly parallel. The lower reflector portion is shaped so that light emitted from the other light source is used effectively so that it requires only a comparatively small surface area and can be integrated in the reflector.

    • A headlamp for a vehicle adapted to radiate a light beam therefrom exclusively for passing-by vehicles includes a single filament, a main reflector, an auxiliary reflector and a lens. The auxiliary reflector is divided into two parts, i.e., an upper auxiliary reflector and a lower auxiliary reflector along a horizontal line extending through the filament. The upper auxiliary reflector, has a focus which is located at the position in the vicinity of the rearmost end of the filament, while the lower auxiliary reflector has a focus which located at the position in the vicinity of the foremost end of the filament. The auxiliary reflector is basically arranged in the region where the main reflector can not completely collect a light beam radiated from the filament. The upper and lower auxiliary deflectors have an inner diameter and an outer diameter, respectively. The inner diameter is dimensionally defined such that it is located on the lens side outward of line segments extending from the foremost end of the filament to the outermost ends of the main reflector, and the outer diameter is set to substantially the same diameter as that of the region where the function of a part of the main reflector becomes ineffective due to arrangement of sockets for the filament.

    • A light-condensing reflector positioned at the opposite side or end of a light source from a primary paraboloidal reflector in opposed reflector-to-reflector relationship to amplify light. The light-condensing reflector is selectively smaller in diameter than the primary reflector such that an annular or ring-like light orifice is formed between the outside periphery of a base of the light-condensing reflector and the inside periphery of a base of the primary reflector. Light amplified and condensed by the two opposed reflectors is collimated in an annular light beam through the annular light orifice. When applied to flashlights, spotlights and vehicle headlights, this invention increases the light intensity substantially.

    • A lamp assembly capable of functioning both as a fog lamp and a cornering lamp on a motor vehicle, comprising a fixed reflector within a housing, a movable reflector positioned forwardly of the fixed reflector, and a light bulb mounted to the fixed reflector and extending forwardly therefrom through an aperture in the movable reflector.
