    • A wire feeder for an electric arc welder comprising feed rolls driven by an electric motor for moving a welding wire toward a workpiece for an arc welding process. The motor is rotated at a speed determined by a WFS signal from a controller when energized by actuation of a start switch, a switch network has a first condition allowing the motor to operate at the speed determined by the WFS signal and a second override condition forcing the motor to rotate at a fixed lower speed, a toggle circuit with a first position to shift the switch network into the second condition upon actuation of the motor start switch and a second position to shift the switch network to the first condition upon receipt of a toggle signal, and a device to create the toggle signal when the load current to the motor exceeds a given value.

    • A wire feeding device for very fine wire includes a straightening unit, a transporting unit, a wire buffer, and a wire guide arranged on a table on which a swivel unit with a wire drive is also arranged. The swivel unit serves wire-processing stations of a wire-processing machine. A supply of very fine wire is held in a drum and passes through the straightening unit which straightens the wire, bends and kinks being thereby removed. The transporting unit pulls the wire out of the drum and through the straightening unit and feeds the wire buffer. The wire buffer has a measuring device for monitoring a hanging wire loop. Depending on the requirement for wire in the wire-processing machine, the content of the buffer can decrease and the wire apex of the loop then moves upwards. The movement of the wire apex is detected by the measuring device and controlled with a control device via the transporting unit.

    • An open shipyard feeder for supplying a consumable welding wire on a wire spool to a welding gun. The feeder includes a frame having a base extending in a longitudinal direction between a forward end and a rearward end and which supports the feeder on an underlying surface. The frame further includes a spool support means connected to the frame near the rearward end and which rotatably retains the wire spool relative to the frame allowing the spool to rotate about a spool axis. The feeder includes a wire advancing mechanism mounted on the frame for paying wire from the spool on the spool support to the welding gun. The feeder further includes a control box on the frame near the forward end. The feeder frame is rigid yet light weight and can support the wire feeder on a wide range of underlying surfaces while still being easily transportable.

    • A primary device placed at the upstream end of a duct and a relay device placed at an access point pull a cable through respective duct segments. The pulling speed of the primary device is controlled by an operator. The pulling speed of the relay device is variable in response to movement of the cable by the primary device to maintain equilibrium between the pulling speeds of the devices. The pulling tension exerted upon the cable by each device is monitored and discontinued upon reaching a predetermined maximum value. At the inlet to the second segment, lubricant is supplied to the cable at a quantitative rate which is proportional to the pulling speed.
